To loosen calf muscles: Just set roll on floor under ankles. cross legs at ankles, and lift to your hands to allow your weight to rest on your calf along the roller. then roll back and forth slowly.. Doing this several times will work the kinks out. Switch legs and repeat. Directions show how to roll other muscles as well. It's very high-density and I've been using it for 6 months now through ultra-high mileage training to keep me going sans injury. It's best for rolling out your IT band, hips, and quads, not as good for targeting calves though. Lower-quality rollers will get soft and not work out the kinks as well, but I recommend this brand.

Been using one at the gym to help roll out my tight IT bands (a problem with tightness on outer thighs that faces many runners and can lead to knee issues), and had to get one to have at home as well. This did not disappoint. Type of foam is excellent - some get squished down quickly because they are not dense enough. Not this one! Very resilient. Highly recommend.

Comments about J-Fit 18in x 6in High Density Foam Roller, 1 ea: Using this foam roller after a vigorous work out keeps me healthy. I have had bad knees and hips for years and thought I had arthritis. Using this foam roller before and after workouts takes all of that pain away.
