I've tried nearly every best rated flavor of energy/protein/diabetic/you-name-it bar out there. This vanilla NuGo is not bad, the flavor is nice, not overly sweet. Texture is good - not too hard nor chewy and it is decently filling (although they should think about increasing dietary fiber). There are other brands and flavors out there that I find taste better so I am not sure it merits the 5 star review. A number of the SlimFast, Luna, ZonePerfect and Balance bars have far superior flavors. Still of the NuGo line, the vanilla is definitely the tastiest. I think its best attribute is the calorie content - at 170 calories, these bars are bigger than or similar in size to most competitors' higher calorie (200) bars. So it is satisfying to have something decent to eat but minus a few calories.

I normally don't eat protein bars because they taste terrible or have too much sugar to be of much nutritional value. The vanilla flavored Nugo bars taste like Rice Krispies treats with frosting. Amazingly, they only have 13 grams of sugar and 11 grams of protein. They are a great snack to satisfy your sweet tooth. Highly recommended.

I use these when I'm going to be away from good food selections (i.e. fast food is one of my only options), like at the airport or just out of the house for an extended period of time. They're also great to take on hikes and for after workouts. (A word about hikes or taking them somewhere hot - try to pack them next to a small ice pack, otherwise the yogurt base can get kind of sticky).

Excellent "on-the-go" meal replacement with a piece of fruit OR an afternoon snack. Love it! I do not like chocolate so I was thrilled to find a "scrumptious" non-chocolate treat!. Very satisfying - curbs appetite for weight conscious individuals. Scrumptious!
