A small dab is all that's needed -- pea-sized amount or smaller, for short hair. It's really important to allow the warmth of your hands to somewhat soften or "melt" this stuff, then rub fingers/palms against one another to distribute it evenly before putting your fingers through hair. Someone who didn't know to do that said he found little clumps of "paste" in his hair (not a surprise, really). But if you get your fingers and palms fully (but lightly) coated first, it works great. Can use for a spikey look or just to provide some texture and shape. Low shine. GREAT, light, natural smell. Have tried others that made me feel like a perfume factory! Will stick with this, for sure.

Great product. Holds well. No shine. Works better for short to medium hair than longer hair.
