I've used a lot of Mrs. Meyer's products. Mostly the All-Purpose Cleaner in Lavender. I've used a lot of the dish soap too. I've had a bottle of the Lemon Verbena ironing spray for probably a year. i like the smell, but don't actually iron that much. I bought some of the Lemon Verbena dryer sheets... and i don't know, maybe its because i'm pregnant... but they smell AMAZING! They just didn't leave the clothes smelling as strongly of Lemon Verbena as i would have liked. So. i bought the laundry detergent. Mmm... it makes me love to do laundry. Just so i can sniff. Weird, i know. Its a tad expensive. But worth it on occasion.

Let me start by saying that I love so many of the other Mrs. Meyers Lemon Verbena products. I use the dish soap, countertop spray, all purpose cleaner and the scent diffusers. I just love the scent. This laundry soap, however does not smell like the other products.I don't like the scent of the laundry soap at all. The bottle also needs a spout similar to that of the fabric softener to help with pouring.

No animal testing, which is a requirement in the products I buy. Very gentle on skin...no irritations and this is only natural detergent that actually gets odors out of my clothes effectively. Highly recommended!

The scent was so overpowering that we had to do a second rinse cycle; not an effective use of resources for a natural product.

The manufacturer has to come up with a better/tougher lid, which must be strong-soap resistant. Plastics often "dissolve" in very strong/concentrated detergent, such as this one. The base of the lid (not the flap) above the screw part broke off after 2-3 uses, which then left me with a very difficult-to-carry detergent. Otherwise, I like the product.

The advertising copy for this detergent talks about the benefits of essential oils, but a close examination of the ingredients shows "FRAGRANCE" listed, which means synthetic perfume, usually petroleum-based. Very misleading!

I guess smell is a personal call, but I think this smells amazing! Pulling a load of fresh laundry out of the dryer and burying my nose in it is really a pleasure. It is an effective detergent, definitely pricey, but if you follow the instructions and only use 1/2 a capful, it lasts a long, long time. One of my favorite Mrs. Meyers' products!
Laundry how-to: Begin your laundry day by sorting clothes and linens. Check for stains and items left in pockets (candy wrappers, lunch tickets, coins, etc). Next, select the right water temperature. Use hot water for whites, colorfast pastels and light prints. Use warm water for permanent press clothes and jeans. Cold water works best for bright colors and fabrics that tend to fade. Then add laundry detergent: 1/2 capful for an ordinary load, 3/4 capful for an extra-large or particularly filthy load of clothing. Don't worry, it's easy!
