Begin a regular, daily brushing routine when your puppy is between eight and twelve weeks of age. Older dogs can also be trained to accept having their teeth brushed. Simply introduce the activity gradually and make the experience a positive one for your pet. Provide plenty of reassurance and praise throughout the process and reward your pet with a special treat when you are finished.
Phase 1: Remove 1 or 2 Four Paws Dental Wipes from the container and fold over your index finger. Slide your finger inside your pet's cheek, cleaning their teeth and gum line using a small circular motion.
Phase 2: Introduce the Fourpaws special formulated toothpaste to your pet by placing a small amount on your finger and gently rub the teeth and gum line in a circular motion. No rinsing necessary.
Phase 3: Depending on your pet's preference, choose the toothbrush or finger brush. Squeeze a small amount of Four Paws PetDental Toothpaste onto the brush and allow your dog to taste. Reapply and gently brush in a circular motion. Never use human toothpaste, as it can upset your pet's stomach. For best results establish a regular dental routine.
Phase 4: Reward your pet with a dental treat when you are finished. |
