Helps prevent sunburn. If used as directed with other sun protection measures, decreases the risk of skin cancer and early skin aging caused by the sun.
Warnings
For external use only. Do not use on damaged or broken skin. Stop use and ask a doctor if rash occurs. When using this product, keep out of eyes. Rinse with water to remove. Keep out of reach of children. If swallowed, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center right away. For use on skin only. Avoid contact with fabric.
Sun protection measures: Spending time in the sun increases your risk of skin cancer and early skin aging. To decrease this risk, regularly use a sunscreen with a broad spectrum SPF value of 15 or higher and other sun protection measures including limit time in the sun, especially from 10am-2pm. Wear long-sleeved shirts, pants, hats, and sunglasses.

About retinyl palmitate, it is an antioxidant, vitamin a. Research shows it is effective (European Journal of Medical Research, September 2001, pages 391–398; and Journal of Investigative Dermatology, September 1997, pages 301–305). It's received some negative publicity in May 2010 when a press release was issued stating that it is linked to skin cancer and tumor growth. The FDA was implicated in this scare-tactic report, but as it turns out the assertions made against retinyl palmitate were not conclusive or firmly supported by published research. In fact, retinyl palmitate is one of the primary antioxidants found naturally in skin (Source: Toxicology and Industrial Health, May 2006, pages 181-191). Moreover, when retinyl palmitate is properly formulated in sunscreens (meaning stabilizing ingredients are included, which is typical) it does not pose a problem or health risk (Source: Photochemistry and Photobiology, November-December 2010, pages 1,390-1,396). It is not carcinogenic. It has gone through rigorous testing by the FDA. Regardless of what countries have engaged in scare-mongering, it's perfectly fine.

My husband has had several small areas of skin cancer resulting from working out in the sun for decades, before sunscreen was readily available. So, I am constantly ordering Ocean Potion products for him, and for me, for prevention of sun damage. We just received this, so have not tried it yet, but I am sure it will be just as wonderful and effective as the rest of our stock of this line of products. So far we have enjoyed them all, but I like the fact that this is Oxybenzone Free and Fragrance Free! Drugstore.com is always so efficient and always great customer service, so why should I constantly drive to the store to buy sunscreen and such? It's just so much easier to get frequent deliveries from Drugstore.com!
I'm a surfer and have used Ocean Potion products for years. They don't sting my eyes or irritate my sensitive skin, and the zinc oxide formulas go on clear. They also carry some of the lowest price tags out there. They are well-formulated and contain many good-for-the-skin ingredients (including Retinyl Palmitate--the 2010 assertions that rp changes in UV light were not conclusive or firmly supported by published research. In fact, retinyl palmitate is one of the primary antioxidants found naturally in skin...search any good cosmetic ingredient dictionary and it will site the research.) I try many sunscreens, but I always go back to Ocean Potion.

I love this sunscreen. I bought it after reading the reviews and was not disappointed. It is non-greasy and leaves my EXTREMELY sensitive skin feeling soft and hydrated. It kept me sunburn free all last summer while I was a camp counselor. It is only water- resistant, so reapply often if you are swimming! I highly recommend this sunscreen. It is great, and so is the price.
Best sunscreen for me: non stinging, no tears and effective. Doesn't run in my eyes when active. Have used for past few years with consistent success. Please continue to carry this great product!
I use this sun block every day. I love it because it goes on smoothly, is odorless and is not greasy. It does a good job of sun protection for regular use, although, I have not spent a entire day outside in the sun since I started using it.
I have fallen in love with this sunscreen. I have used it for four years and I am very upset to not find it in stores anywhere around where I live. I am happy to have found it online. I love that I can put this sunscreen on and not tell that I put any sun protection on. It is not greasy and rubs in like hand lotion. When we go to the beach I usually only apply once unless we are there forever. At the beginning of the season I pulled out four old bottles.....love it and will never have another sunscreen. Tried Coppertone since I couldn't find this one in stores and I am sending it back to the company.
I've used ocean potion for more than 10 years starting with the Baby potion, which then turned into the Gentle and Sensitive. I couldn't buy it locally and for a while I was stationed overseas in the military. I would order directly from the company's website. Glad to see it's available to a wider market on Drugstore.com. I NEVER write reviews, but I can't say enough good things about this product. I also love the feel of the anti-aging version, but found it caused bumps on my skin.
Apply liberally 15 minutes before sun exposure. Reapply after 80 minutes of swimming or sweating, immediately after towel drying, or at least every 2 hours. Protect this product from excessive heat and direct sun. Children under 6 months: Ask a doctor.
