I generally like L'Oreal because it doesn't smudge on me, and I get the waterproof just in case. However I am so disappointed with this, my lashes looked spider-y and thin, but worst of all, within an hour there were black smudges underneath my lower lashes AND on my eyelids (where the top of my lashes touched). I hate that, it's so embarrassing and I will not wear it again.

I thought getting the Voluminous Carbon Black waterproof would be better than the original Voluminous Waterproof in black, I was wrong. The first day using it I wondered if my eyeliner had smudged under my eyes, or maybe I had used too much eye cream because within a couple of hours after putting this mascara on, it was under my eyes and looked bad. I came here to see the reviews and noticed that it's not something I did differently, but the mascara that isn't what I expected it to be.
I love the L'Oreal Voluminous Black waterproof mascara, it doesn't smudge at all! It's my favorite and I get compliments all the time. Been using this one for many years and I'll stick with it!
To remove, I use coconut oil applied with a finger and then wash my face.

This mascara smudges in the first hour. Not really waterproof either. The brush is also too fat. It is hard to apply close to the lash line. Don't waste your money. I complained to Loreal online and was compensated.

Overall, this is a good mascara. My only complaint is that it is impossible to remove. I take my makeup off every night before bed and I still wake up every morning with black mascara raccoon eyes. When they say it's waterproof, they mean it

This smudges after only an hour or two. It leaves complete black marks under your eyes, really bad! Horrible!! I really liked the way it went on, but when I looked in the mirror after a couple hours I about died. I looked terrible, like I had 2 black eyes. Would NOT recommend at all.

this product is a nightmare. it goes on like a dream and looks amazing but only for a minute and then it starts smudging. what's the point of being waterproof if it runs and smudges and flakes immediately and requires constant touch-ups? the waterproof voluminous in regular black works much better. steer clear of this carbon black.

It is not waterproof and is definitely not long wear.
I bought this to wear to a funeral, assuming that my tears wouldn't ruin my makeup. An hour into the viewing I had black circles under my eyes. After that I was careful to continually clean it up until I got home. Once home I didn't care how I looked since I was just "vegging" out on my couch for a couple of hours. When I went to bed I had full on raccoon eyes, though I hadn't cried since the funeral and hadn't rubbed my eyes. I used eye makeup remover cloths, cleaned myself up & went to bed.
The next morning I woke up to new black circles under my eyes. I hadn't even used that much. GRRR!!!!
