The size is easy to swallow if you have trouble w/larger pills. It's not eash to find Vit. D in this dosage, so I'm twice blessed. I love this particular size and am glad to be able to get it through drugstores.com I don't find it in the pharmacies around us.

I have been studying the Vitamin D debate for a couple of months now. I had a blood test and I am at 28 ng/ml which is too low by most standards. It is my personal opinion that the RDA of vitamin D is way too low.
Vitamin D is not really a vitamin, it is a secosteroid that circulates as the hormone calcitriol through the body, regulating calcium and helping the growth, specialization, and death of cells.
I will not take flu shots anymore. That is just a roll of the dice that it will protect against the three major influenza that a small group of doctors predict. The lack of sun in my area is a major problem as well. I am going to take 5000 IU a day during the winter and cut it back as I get more sun in the summer. I have even seen a doctor recommend 100,000 IU for three days when infected by an influenza, although the most I have taken is 20,000 on a day I was near influenza infected people and felt a bit coming on and I did not fall ill.
The dose that comes with this product is perfect and easy to take for me. I recommend doing your own research and coming to your own conclusion as well.
In the spring I am going to recheck my blood level and see if I have brought it up to the 50 ng/ml level that the vitamin d council recommends.
