If you go to the CleanWell website they explain how they came up with the formula for their son, who was born with an immunodeficient disease and couldn't tolerate chemical sanitizers. I don't work for CleanWell, but I am so impressed with their products and get frustrated when I read how people don't like their products because they smell herbal. They have added a new orange vanilla scent to some of their products--I haven't tried it yet, but maybe it's less offensive to some people. The bottom line is: If you want a hand sanitizer that is SAFE and effective for you and your kids, this is it! For the review here where the man had an adverse reaction--I'm guessing this is rare. My kids and I have sensitive skin and have never had a problem. Also like the foaming texture versus a gel. I am not a fan of the odor, though. It seems to be attempting to smell fresh, but is too strong and unusual for me. I'd greatly prefer a fragrance-free option. I haven't noticed the smell some of the other reviews have complained about. Also, this product lasted me more than a year! Very impressed. I was becoming concerned about using the stronger alcohol-based sanitizer. I wanted something natural that still worked. Many reviews complained about the smell, but I don't mind the smell at all. Once it dries, you don't really smell it anyway. It dries very quickly. I also like that it foams so you don't use a ton of it. I have one in my car and it's just one pump for me and one for my daughter after we visit the grocery store or somewhere else. The foam seems to work better than the spray because it's a little wetter - you have more time to get it all over your hands before it dries.
