I have had plantar fasciitis in the past, and was able to get rid of it with the N'Ice Stretch Night Splint. It worked very well for me and I was able to put it away in the closet. When my PF started acting up again, I got it out, but there was some fuzz on the Velcro, and it wouldn't stay on like it should. I cleaned it up as best I could, but no matter what I did, I couldn't get it to stay like it should. In part, I think the piece it was supposed to stick to was just worn out.
Instead of going with the same thing, I decided to get this splint. I knew it would work, because it's the same type of idea, but I was hoping that the straps would be of a better design, and it would stay on better.
I was right -- the straps are of a MUCH better design, and they DO stay on much better. There's just one thing that I would change to make this item perfect... have the straps connect on the front of the foot instead of on the side. If I had been using this on my left foot, I never would have noticed, because the connectors would have been on the inside of my foot and easily reached. But on my right foot, the connectors were on the outside of the foot, and I had to figure out a way to sit on edge of the bed, put my foot on the bed next to my butt, and hold the brace in place while I connected the straps - all with one hand, because I couldn't reach with my left hand. I even tried putting my leg straight out in front of me on the bed to reach, but I'm not that flexible. If the connectors were in the middle of the foot instead of on one side or the other, then the brace would truly be able to be used on either foot, because you could just put your foot on the floor in the brace and lean over to connect the straps.
But the upshot is, once you get it on (and hope you don't have to get up in the night to use the bathroom), it works like a charm, and within a few days, with some stretching of my calves during the day, the problem had gone away again, and now this brace is in the closet waiting for the next time my PF acts up.
Buy it. Use it. Do some calf stretches. You'll be glad you did.
