I am Latina with long, wavy hair; California native. I don't like using too many products and I'm over the blow drying and hair iron thing. I just want my hair to look "normal" - it's natural look but not frizzy or crunchy - I don't want it to be work. I read another review on drugstore.com where they used a gel first and then a curl cream. I'd always done cream then gel. I tried it the other way with this gel and had thee best results. Definitely my new fave.

I've reviewed this before under a different product name, but they asked again.

This isn't a hard or crunchy hold. It stays soft/flexible. I don't know why they call this "extra strong hold" because that brings to mind 80's hair which this won't do. I usually use this with the companion Pantene curl creme. Creme first through my hair, then some of this over it, particularly in the ends and around my face where my hair likes to get frizzy through the day. This is a curl defining product. Makes my waves stay in air-dried ringlets all day. I will scrunch my hair briefly to break up the heaviness/stiffness when it's a little over half dry.

I wouldn't recommend this for thin or fine hair because it's a bit heavy, as is the curl creme, but if you have thick hair that likes to spread out WAY too wide, this will keep it defined and pretty. Oh, and a little finger combing and maybe spray with water and apply a little more product and my hair looks even better the next day! Always shiny and not product-y. If I need to comb my hair out, no flakes. Love, love, love, and the price is reasonable, too.

I have natural curly, short (just above shoulders) hair. Just out of the shower, I use a dime size squirt of this product blended through my hair then I use the same size squirt of Bouncy Curl and blend it through my hair. I use the cone shaped defuser on my hair dryer and get a nice bouncy, natural curl without any crunchy, hard, wet looking curl that lasts all day. I'm always complimented on the way my hair looks and the best part is it only takes me 10 minutes!!

I became addicted to this two years ago during a hot and humid trip to Florida, also works amazing where I live in NYC coastal climate.

FOR BEST RESULTS: After wringing hair with towel, finger-comb Pantene Pro-V Curly Hair Style Curl Shaping Hair Gel through hair, spray on a generous amount of Pantene Pro-V Curly Hair Series Hair Detangler, Light Conditioning (just like one would do with hairspray) and scrunch. Do not touch hair again LEAVE IT AS IS until dry (or the gel will stick to your fingers and create what one would think is frizz).

This gel dryed out my hair and it did not provide any curl definition or hold. It did smell nice, but that's about it.

I have medium coarse hair (curly when wet & frizzed up when dry). This product works well for twist outs as it doesn't make your hair hard at all. Up in the air on wash n go's but it's not bad for that either. Your hair will still have shrinkage but not a ridiculous amount. This is a great value especially in a market where most name brand curly products are so $$$. This does the same job as the $$$ products.

I just started using the Pantene products regularly and this one is is a keeper! My hair is fine and flyaway, but not with a bit of this. Used in moderation, this will control flyaways and add body to fine hair. It smells good and the price is definitely right, too. Yay, Pantene!

Pantene recently did an overhaul on their products. I wasn't sure if this one just had new packaging or if the actual product had changed. It has changed slightly. It has a new scent and it seems a little lighter which is fine with me. My hair is neither curly nor straight so I have to make it one or the other. In the summer I find it too hot to use the hair dryer so I use gel to make my hair curly and pull it back with a headband. This gel is perfect for that.

This is a great, inexpensive drugstore gel for curly hair. Unlike some cheaper gels, it does not dry out my hair, and after allowing to air-dry and scrunching out the crunch, my hair is shiny, incredibly bouncy, and touchably soft. However the trade-off for a lightweight product is less hold, and my hair is still a bit frizzier than it is with other, harder-hold gels. However I am still impressed, and I can't wait to try out the other gels in Pantene's new lineup. People were looking at and complimenting my hair all day! This will become a regular product in my rotation for sure!
