These cotton buds are tapered to a point on one end and standard round tip on the other. I thought the round tip end was a flattened oval according to the package's illustration. Imagine if you took a pair of pliers and pinched the head of the cotton bud. That's what I thought I was purchasing.

They seem to be fine for what they are - one round end and one pointed end cotton bud with a plastic stick. I already have similar pointed cotton buds that are a denser weave for a sharper point and prefer those for precision makeup corrections. Those came in a hard sided plastic container to protect the points but are harder to find as they're a Japanese brand.

These are great. I wear makeup every day and realized that my eye shadow applicators may not always be completely sanitary since I use them every day. With these you can use a fresh one with every application and not have to worry about breaking the bank. The flat side works better for application than your standard rounded QTip. I'm glad I discovered these - I use them every day. I highly recommend these.

I use these "applicators" to remove makeup and clean around my eyes. Doesn't leave behind little cotton fibers.
