Clif Bar is named after my father, Clifford, my childhood hero and companion throughout the Sierra Nevada mountain range.
In 1990, I lived in a garage with my dog, skis, climbing gear, bicycle and two trumpets. The inspiration to create an energy bar occurred during a day-long, 175-mile ride with my buddy Jay. We'd been gnawing on some "other" energy bars. Suddenly despite my hunger, I couldn't take another bite. That's the moment I now call "the epiphany". Two years later, after countless hours in Mom's kitchen, Clif Bar became a reality. And the mission to create a better-tasting energy bar was accomplished. Thanks, Mom!

I keep a box of Clif Bars in my drawer at work, and a few in my car. When I'm hungry, but can't stop to eat a meal, Clif Bars are great for tiding me over. One bar has more protein, more fiber and more vitamins and minerals than one package of two granola bars (it also has more calories, more sodium and more carbs, so these bars are designed more for athletes and people who incorporate exercise and fitness into their lifestyle as opposed to those who believe in dieting alone).
My only complaint about these bars is that they cannot be purchased as one box in an assortment of flavors, such as 18 bars of 6 or 9 different flavors.

I found that this bar did give me a bit more energy. Although I didn't really enjoy eating it! It isn't moist and chewy. More like dry and solid with a nice taste. I thought they did taste better than most health bars though. My 3-year-old actually liked them! I would, and did, recommend them to family members.

This is a great snack for me, I don't always get to eat like I need to and want to but I use this before work outs, run, jiu jitsu, and biking. I pack one with me when I go anywhere so when I get hungry I can eat on the go.

I love the ease of having a tasty, nutritious bar while on the go. It is a little on the dry side so it should be washed down with a nice glass of cold water.

My husband is a truck driver. He has a Clif Bar every morning with a cup of coffee. That way he gets a healthy breakfast and an energy boost every morning! He also uses them as meal replacements or as an energy snack. He has nut allergies, so the chocolate chip Clif Bar is the only flavor he can eat.

I've been eating this bar for years and never tire of it. I eat them an hour and a half before my daily run and am well energized. Also tides me over from breakfast to lunch at work.

My love affair with Clif bars began with this flavor. This bar tastes like an oatmeal chocolate chip cookie to me. Of course this is my favorite but there are many new, great flavors that have come out recently (white chocolate macadamia-so good.) I just ordered a bunch and I am excited to try the new maple nut bars too!

These are as good as or better than most energy bars, especially considering the wholesome ingredients. If you're expecting a candy bar type taste like some other energy bars out there, you may want to check out those candy-energy bar ingredients and do a reality-check on why you're eating these in the first place.
The chocolate chip flavor is one of the best - I eat these (and several other flavors) for breakfast, during hikes, before working out, etc.
It IS an acquired taste, but if you don't like them, you're apparently not hungry enough to need an energy bar - try them again after hiking another 5 miles or so ;-) Or you may like the taste of Luna bars better...
