Best product to use when you have a flareup or I use daily as ongoing maintenance. I like to use before inserting a suppository. It makes it less painful and easier to insert. Then I reapply this ointment regularly. Lessens the sore and itch. It is hard to find locally. I always keep a tube in my pocketbook and in my bathroom.

This stuff actually soothes and helps to reduce the inflammation; the common OTC brands/ingredients did absolutely nothing for me and may have made things worse. I much prefer this Nelson's cream and I wish it was more widely available in local stores. Cons are that the one ounce tube does not last long and it is not a permanent solution to the problem. However, as far as treatments to alleviate the symptoms go, it is great. I would describe my general symptoms/pain level during a flare as "moderate", so if you have severe symptoms/pain I do not know if this would be strong enough for you.

This is a good maintenance product for a few days after a flareup. Better off preventing hemorrhoids than treating them but once you have burning, itching and pain, this product worked better than anything with cortisone. In fact cortisone will make it worse in some cases. This will be my second purchase.

This may not be a fair review, because I didn't use this product until I was in the midst of a severe flare up. It was ineffective, but so was everything else I was using. I had the best results with a sitz bath and/or some witch hazel pads.

Check that the tube seal is not broken before first use. Pierce the tube seal with the point in the top of the cap before first use.

Clean affected area, then gently apply cream to the area thoroughly.
