Simply tried it to see how well it worked. Doesn't really work! Seems one cannot get the H2O hot enough...filter leaks.
Difficult to judge how many grounds needed.

This is a perfect size for one cup of coffee and has the perfect drip hole size. Since it is plastic, it is super light-weight, making it perfect for travel, camping, back-packing. I have the porcelain one for home use, which is great. So I bought a couple of these plastic ones for the back-packers in my family - they're practically weight-less. We will also use these for travel. We don't care for the coffee makers that are provided at hotel rooms - yuk, they make nasty coffee. We used to bring our own home coffee machine! This will make it super easy to make tasty coffee while on vacation! P.S. The cup that came with it is a fine cup. I've honestly never used it - I have my regular favorite cups. It is red on the outside and white on the inside. It's not as big as I thought it would be. It holds 12 oz.

This Melitta coffee brewer is exactly what I was expecting--black filtering device that fits on top of most coffee mugs, and a black coffee mug to boot. I'm not sure why the attached picture shows two mugs. You only get one. The one you get works well for doing a pour-over method when you just need one cup.

I love this little thing. During the week I use a regular coffee maker for convenience sake. For leisure time cups I whip this out.

I also use a regular coffee filter and a melitta filter, otherwise I think it goes thru a little too quickly. Using the extra filter makes a difference.

But it only takes about a minute literally, to make. I use an electric kettle to boil the water.
Once I'm ready for my second cup the kettle water is still hot enough to use right away.

I'm the only one in the household who drinks coffee. I wouldn't want to sit through making several cups this way. It would be nice for someone in a office setting or to take when you travel, camping trips, and when space is limited.

I would recommend this to others. I have a french press I use on occasion and this method reminds me of the simplicity of the press.

Even though the water isn't in contact with the grounds for very long, the coffee comes out strong and delicious.

This product is the best I have owned and it is just a cup with a small basket brewer set. I can control the taste of my favorite coffees. Just simply rinse the cup, basket and toss the No. 2 Melitta Cone Filter. No mess whatsoever. This is really divine. I bought two of them. The price was a wonderful deal. You have total control over what coffee to use, how strong, how hot,etc. This is the best way to brew a single cup of coffee.
