I was a user of Tom's for like 20 years, and I liked how refreshing its unsweetened flavor was. Unfortunately I get pretty bad canker sores, and I heard that I might get some relief by switching to a toothpaste without sodium lauryl sulfate. Tom's makes one of those, but it is SWEETENED. Can't handle it. My mouth does not feel clean after being plied with candy-sweet xylitol.
So I found this stuff, then, and it's better than Tom's anyway. Bracingly minty and completely unsweetened, it refreshes my mouth like crazy. And it foams up quite a bit, which encourages me to brush for longer (and helps a little to go a long way). There is more going on with it, too, flavor-wise -- other herbal and spicy notes. Call me crazy, I think it's kind of delicious.
I'm not seeking to avoid fluoride, so I do wish it had fluoride. And it's expensive (though as I said, a little goes a long way).
Anyway, I'm completely hooked. I've ... never felt this way about toothpaste before.

For anybody complaining about the price- look at the cost per ounce. This tube is much larger than many toothpastes out there, natural or not. You're getting a great value for the amount of product you are purchasing! The toothpaste works very well and leaves your teeth feeling clean. The taste is pleasant and mild, without being sweet. A little goes a long way! The toothpaste actually "lathers" quite nicely for a natural toothpaste. Will purchase again.

About 2 years ago, I developed these horrible irritations in the corners of my mouth that increasingly got worse - out of nowhere. I tried everything to no avail, then in dawned on me to change my toothpaste (I had previously been using a very chemical-laden name brand.) It cleared up almost immediately. Now, while this is "natural", the sodium coco sulfate and carageenan may turn some people off, but it's as close to safe as I've found. The other famous natural Brand (man's name) also contains SLS, and I couldn't find a formula from that brand that made my teeth feel clean or didn't leave me with a horrific aftertaste. With DE, I started with this flavor and have always come back. I tried the whitening mint flavor and it was so strong my eyes would water and I'd wince through using it - not with this. It's wonderful. I use an electric toothbrush and can't tell you how clean I feel! (It also feels nice with a manual.) I didn't experience any weird tastes (tea tree is there for antibacterial properties, not taste) or aftertastes, and it has kept my mouth problem at bay. This seems to be the only flavor that goes on sale, so I stock up when it does.
The ingredients list here lists SLS, but that's a misprint. Here are the ingredients, from the tube itself: calcium carbonate, glycerin (vegetable derived), water, tea tree leaf distillate, sodium coco sulfate, carageenan (plant derived), wintergreen leaf oil, sodium bicarbonate, eco-harvested tea tree oil, neem extract, sea salt.

It's so refreshing to brush without all that fake sugar taste! My husband also says it leaves his teeth feeling as they do right after a polish from the dentist.

I saw an episode of Dr. Oz about Neem. A doctor he had on had mentioned that she never had cavities. So I got some to try about six months ago.I just went to the dentist and it must be working!
