I spray a small some both on top and under my hair then section my hair to use my chi flatiron. This product is the best product to flatten type 2 wavy hair (I don't know about other types, but this is my type). I've used literally DOZENS of spray, but this is the only one that (a) gets flat in the first pass with the iron and(b) leaves hair soft & shiny, not stiff. I experience less damage to my hair when I use this because I don't have to "try" so hard. Excellent product!

Yes, it's a pricey product. But! It's worth it. Many thermal protectant products are goo that you squirt in your hand and mix through your hair. If you're anything like me, you are tired of your hair feeling weighted down and greasy (if not at first, by the end of the day) from the goo. Because this is a spray it goes on like hair spray so it's lightweight and you don't even notice it. Amazing!
Also, if you have shorter hair using a goo is impossible because you are really only supposed to mix it into your ends. With the spray you can get all over your shorter hair with not having your hair look or feel greasy. Having a shorter hair style, this product has saved me!
Last but not least! Because it's a spray it also acts as a hairspray in the sense that it will hold your do (unless of course you have a stiff style). So, this is beneficial if you don't want to load your hair up with a bunch of different products. Using additional spray wouldn't be a big deal though as this product is so light.
I really like this product as it protects your hair from heat unlike any other product I have used, is fast and easy to use. Yes, it's pricey (unfortunately), but that's what you get when it's a salon quality product.
Depending on the thickness and length of the hair, spray on both the top and bottom sides of the section from roots to ends until total coverage of the section has been achieved. Spray from far enough away to avoid making the hair section wet.
Spray in quick, short bursts from about 8 to 10 inches away from the hair, directing the spray toward the ends. Press and run fingers down the section to distribute product evenly from roots to ends. When styling with a ceramic flat iron, work on sections that can be easily managed, no more than 2 inches wide and 1/4 inch in depth. Begin pressing at the roots and work toward the ends in a smooth, fluid manner until a smooth texture and the desired level of body is achieved. Repeat the technique if the goal is to increase the level of hold and control on each section.
