The chews were convenient to carry and easy to take, but there were times when I just didn't want something that sweet. Plus, it was easy to forget to take them because I couldn't keep them in my pill box with my other meds/supplements--and that meant that sometimes I took them without food so they probably weren't as well absorbed. I also tried calcium citrate pills, which don't require you take them with food, but was put off by the extra number of pills I had to take and the added cost. I like this product because I can take 2 pills with breakfast and be done with it for the day--one dose means I rarely forget to take them and since you're supposed to take them with breakfast, taking them with food is no issue. I also have had no side effects from calcium carbonate, as mentioned in another review. The only reason I didn't give this product 5 stars is because I'd prefer they be made with 100% calcium citrate instead of a mix of the two, and they are a bit pricey. Also, there's no way to know for sure whether they are more or less effective than other types of calcium supplements that require multiple doses throughout the day. I was disappointed to find that the slow release contain calcium carbonate and I am experiencing terrible flatulence from it. I had no problems with citrical petites or regular because they are made from calcium citrate. Just a word to the wise, if you like convenience from once a day, go ahead, but beware of unpleasant side effects.
