i used to love this product when it was UNREFINED. However, they have made a switch within the last few months and my most recent purchase has definitely been REFINED (note that the label also no longer says 'unrefined'). The product is grainy and gritty, no longer smooth and soft. It is almost impossible to rub into skin, as it just flakes grains of shea butter off onto the floor when you try. Worse, it is no longer as effective a moisturizer following the refining process (not to mention the chemical residues that may now be in the product). I will not be buying this product or any others from the Out of Africa line again.

This is a good product, by using this raw shea butter, all my stretch marks are gone. I will keep on buying it till I feel it has done its total job. Maybe in another 5 months I'll try another product, but for now Im sticking with this great product. The only con is that it takes nearly an hour to dry. I usually stay naked after showering with the fan turned on to make it dry quicker.

my son has had severe eczema since he was an infant. this seems to be the only thing that helps with his dry and itchy skin (other than his prescription oil which we still use during flare ups). it was so effective, i started using it on my own eczema spots and even use it as a night cream now. the only reason why i wouldn't give 5 stars is because it is pretty hard to spread in winter months since the butter solidifies. i found that the smaller size tin, also the out of africa brand, that we use for travel is easier to spread.

This is the best shea I've found. It doesn't irritate my skin, and is an ultra thick moisturizer. I use it on my eyes, cuticles, heels. I've also mixed it with a little grapeseed or other oil to make it easier to use on larger areas. It can get stiff if it is cold, but warms right up.

Let me start by saying this is VERY difficult to use. When I received the product it felt like a big block of wax. Digging my finger into it isn't too difficult, but the rubbing part and getting it to reach a spreadable consistency is very frustrating. No, it doesn't melt into a nice creamy buttery spread. It melts into a slightly sticky, waxy layer that you sort of pat over your face. The smell is very typical of natural plant oils... strong and not particularly pleasant. But I put up with it because (here's the good part) it really does make my face feel and look great! I have to wait a good half an hour for it to settle in and feel less waxy, but once it gets to that point my face is looking positively radiant and glowy. I can't say it's helped my acne, but it certainly hasn't made it worse either. And since I only need to use a little each time, this jar will probably last forever. It's just a shame the application process is so frustrating.

I use this Shea Butter right after my shower and especially before going outside, I use it in addition to my moisturizer, or under the sunscreen. Once I've put it on, I don't have to worry about getting it on my clothing or it feeling oily on my skin.
I know that I will use this product for the rest of my life.

I LOVE this! I have very dry cracked elbows. I'm 34 and they are getting worst with age. My brother's elbows are the same way so I think it's hereditary. I've tried so many products and everything else only worked for an hour at the most. This stuff keeps my elbows mousiterized all day. I wish I would have found it sooner.

I tend to get eczema in the winter and this stuff really seems to help. It is hard to work with as you need to rub it in hard or warm it up first, but it works very well on your skin. The smell isn't the best and it's hard to wash off your hands, but it is pure shea butter. It definitely works better for me than other moisturizers and I'd rather use this than lots of cortisone.
