I agree with the other reviewers regarding the new formula (It IS a new formula, as I contacted the manufacturer, Lotus Brands to find out). It is dry upon opening, doesn't apply well, clumps up. I really liked the old formula and the fact that it is cruelty free.

I have used this product for the last 3-4 years after searching for a good cruelty waterproof mascara. The formula was always great - not too dark or dramatic for a more natural everyday look. It applied easily with a simple brush shape and lasted throughout the day without smudging. This summer of 2013 I bought a new tube and it came with a new formula and a new curved brush shape. I tried to make it work for 2 months, but never was able to get the brush to apply the product without clumping, and the formula was dried out after just a month. The old formula lasted at least 3 months before I would have to start a new tube. I wish they would return to the old formula and brush shape. In the meantime, I will search for another manufacturer.

I love that it's cruelty-free and has healthier ingredients than most, but I can't recommend because it doesn't last the whole day & leaves me with sticky contact lenses and raccoon circles under my eyes. Difficult to remove with soap and water.

I had an older formulation of the BWC black waterproof mascara and it was AWESOME. Ordered a new one in Dec 2011 and it was in new packaging. The formula is most definitely changed. It seriously smudges and run as the day goes on! Then, it's hard to wash off?!? The older formula did not smudge and washed beautifully.
