i have some dry patches scattered around my face. i ordered this and ended up loving it. i wouldn't use it as an allover face cream though. it might be too heavy for some people. but if you have super dry skin this is a good product to try. it's size makes it easy to carry in your bag.

I bought one of these at the drugstore after online browsing and reading good reviews for Nivea creme (the larger tub) and thought I'd start with this "trial" size. I love the portability of the small, thin travel tin; it's perfect for keeping on my desk at work (I work at a doctor's office where I'm constantly washing my hands, which dries them out, but not to the point of cracking). I like that the cream is thick and smooth, like something calling itself a cream should be, kind of like a body butter but not as slick/oily. However, it takes a while to absorb, and I have to spread it all over my hands - back, front, any free surface - because just a dab isn't enough coverage, but anything more takes a lot of rubbing in. Then it definitely feels heavy/greasy; I couldn't open my water bottle shortly after using this. But this passes after maybe 10 minutes or so.

The main problem I have with it, though, is the smell. It smells like a combination of topical medication, like Ben-Gay, and grandma perfume, like someone else said. I've used Nivea body lotions, which aren't fruity or flowery or anything like that, but they're not as bad as this stuff. I plan on using this creme only for really dry days because I work closely with patients and others, and I don't want to smell like a hospital. The good news is that after washing my hands, the smell mostly vanishes and smells more like classic Nivea, while the softness remains.

All in all I recommend this for people with severely dry or chapped skin who don't mind strong smells for the pay-off of smooth skin. It does feel like it absorbs and that the softness lasts once the greasiness gets absorbed. You could probably find another cream/lotion that gets the job done just as well without the smell, though, so I probably wouldn't recommend this to a friend.

Oh, and one minor flaw (and maybe it's just mine), but the lid doesn't screw on or otherwise secure to the bottom; I've picked it up and had just the top come off and the bottom fall. A little worried about keeping it in my purse for that reason, don't want to get lint in it. If you tip it upside down holding the bottom, the lid doesn't fall off at least, but I'd like it to snap or screw on, that's all.

Excellent moisturizer, convenient tin. The classic nivea blue label was changed to photos of random smiling strangers. (I just bought six in December, 2012, and they were all photos lids.) I don't know who in marketing, thought this was a good idea! Who wants pictures of strangers in their purse on on their dresser? Besides, the classic blue design was great!

This is a great moisturizer and a handy product. Doesn't take up a lot of room in my work bag and I can pull it out to soften cuticles and hands over and over all day. I didn't give it a perfect only because the tin can be a little hard to open - I think it needs a little lip or dent in the cover.

I love how this still comes in a tin rather than cheap plastic. It's great for travel. I keep it in my makeup bag. The smell is sickeningly sweet, like those old-style perfumes for grandma. It takes off makeup well and it good for dry heels.

My mother has used it for decades, and I'm following in her footsteps!

It's very thick and doesn't smooth over your skin as easily as a thinner lotion would do, but it's such a good product and lasts for such a long time that it far and away makes up for that and I wouldn't change a thing. It saved my skin when I was still living in the north!

It's also been one of the few products that's worked on my skin when my ezcema has acted up.

Convenient little tin and is great for skin in dry weather. It is heavy, so use sparingly.
