I tried these because I had a coupon, and I like the original Ricola cough drops, both the flavor and the natural ingredients. I had a stuffed up nose, a cough, and a hoarse voice. They really cleared out my nasal congestion, temporarily. Once you hit the oozy middle section, you'll get this burst of decongestant effectiveness. It actually burned a bit in my nose and sinuses as I enhaled, but the congestion was gone fast. It will return soon, though, unless you keep putting more drops in your mouth. They didn't do anything for my hoarse voice. I didn't have a sore throat, so I can't comment on that.

I probably wouldn't buy these again because I couldn't get over the flavor. Lots of menthol, but I couldn't taste the cherry at all. They taste like medicine, in a "grin and bear it" way. The burny feeling was pretty intense, too. I doubt you could get a kid to eat these. I actually had to crunch the first one I ate because the burny middle section was too powerful and gross to handle. I'll put up with the flavor because of the effectiveness of the menthol, but they do taste awful. They work really well and I'll try to use up the bag, but I wish they'd just gone with an herbal/mint sort of flavor instead of cherry, because it's not cherry at all. If you need to get a kid to suck on a cough drop, I'd go with those Luden's berry cough drops with pectin. The menthol is effective, but it tastes nasty with cherry.
