I have a problem with being influenced easily, which I'm working on, and acting without getting ALL the facts, another thing I'm working on. I suffered from chronic constipation, I'm not sure why until this day because I'm known as a health freak at my school. I'm usually the one passing out advice to others about their health problems but back to the product. I started taking 5caps per day and within 3 days, I had a healthy bowel movement, I was extremely pleased. My bloating went away and I wasn't as tired as I was. But there were some unpleasant side effects.I see on here some people don't experience cramping and some do but bodies very much vary. I experienced rather extreme cramping during the period I was taking these, it was so bad that each time I had a contraction I literally had to freeze in one spot and cringe until it passed. But after I had the bowel movement it went away...for then. So I guess that's why they suggest you drink PLENTY of water or any fluid for that matter. Once I started doing that, the cramping ceased. Another thing I experience was really bad gas. It could've been because I was so backed up but still I'm not sure why, so if you're anything like me I would do it on a weekend or when I know I'm gonna be home for a while. To spare some embarrassment. Lastly, I strongly suggest you take this for a week max. I was taking these everyday for almost 3 weeks maybe more, but after a while I was getting sharp-edged to watery stools. so I started to take them every other day but still my bowels weren't looking so healthy. I decided to stop taking them all together so i could develop the natural ability to go on my own. Well, bad idea. I was worst than before, I was afraid to eat because I grew a pot belly so big and it felt like my insides were forcefully stretching from so much back up. I went from a surfboard tummy to looking 6 months pregnant. Not only was I lacking fiber in my diet but I learned, after all this, that Senna (the prime ingredient) should only be used as a last resort, if all else fails. Why? Because this herb is no better than those chemical over-the-counter laxatives. Just like those, if you take the Senna for a long period of time, like I did, you WILL become dependent on them and it could severely damage your digestive system, possibly even cause internal bleeding. So I was abusing laxatives without even knowing it. I take this stuff every now and then for about 2-3 days tops (this experience put the fear of God in me) only if I want a GOOD cleansing but I urge everyone who thinks about getting this product, PLEASE do not take it for more than a week and drink PLENTY of water and when you are done, increase your fiber so you can stay on the right track. I think that calling it a "colon cleanser" is misrepresentation of what it actually does. I have no problem with BM's in general and have two a day with no straining. I took this product, thinking that it would do more than it did, that it would help cleanse my system of impurities even more so than normal BM's, but it didn't. It just made me cramp up and have smelly gas, neither of which is ever a problem for me, and gave me an extra BM each day. I guess if you have problems with constipation and irregularity, then this might help get your system going. Otherwise, don't waste your time or money. I'll be dumping the rest of the bottle out. I took the first dose in the morning and then again about 1 in the afternoon. Mild stomach upset after taking them. Nothing happened until 9 at night and then I had a big explosion that kept me on the toilet for a long time. Horrible gas hit me in the middle of the night and it was the trapped kind that really hurts. Had another movement in the middle of the night and then just bad gas again that lasted into next day. My doctor said that being 35 and diabetic my whole life they usually see motility stop around this age and suggested a daily OTC laxative. I picked this up instead and had movement next day and took for 4 days in a row. Not once did I have any accidents or feel the need to run to a toilet. Nor did I have any cramping. I seem to have to take this every other month for a few days but will start one dose once a day instead of two times a day. So far with combination of this, about 4-6 a day, & the vinegar capsules & chromium tablets,& of course eating healthy & exercise it seems to be doing the trick. I have had no ill effects from but do drink 10 to 12 ounces of water when taking. It is a slow weight loss a couple pounds per week but that is better for the body. Suffering severe constipation all my life, this is the ONLY product that keeps me regular. I first started taking 4 capsule 3 times a day. I now take 12 capsules twice a day, and it works perfectly. If I try a cheaper brand, or powder that mixes in liquid, I have a set back. I am not concerned about becoming dependent since this is my only option. I can eat bushels of fruits and vegetables...and nothing. My only concern is that they stop making this product.
