This is a special announcement to Periogen's family of Drugstore customers.  While you, our loyal customers have experienced Periogen’s effectiveness personally, the world will learn of this in September 2015.  At that time Periogen study results are to be presented at the premiere dental event, "The World Dental Congress."  We are very excited about this milestone and wish to thank our long-time customers for their support and feedback which encouraged our determination and ability to initiate studies to help prove what you experienced first-hand. 

Two independent studies to be presented were completed this year.  One study was facilitated by a U.S. Dental University and the other by an International Dental University.  The results from both studies prove that Periogen helps reduce plaque and tartar and helps fight Gingivitis.  In the International study, patients had their teeth cleaned by a dental professional.  Half of the group ("placebo group") brushed with a leading toothpaste while the other half brushed with the same toothpaste, but added swishing with Periogen to their routine.  There was a statistically significant improvement in the patients swishing with Periogen.  "Periogen users realized a 45% reduction in plaque and tartar indexes as measured after 6 months of Periogen use as compared to brushing alone."  (Published Data: Int J Experiment Dent Sci 2015;4(1):33-39).

Safety Information:  While all ingredients are food grade, persons allergic to any of these ingredients should not use Periogen.  As with any oral rinse if sensitivity, redness, or rash develops following use, discontinue use immediately and if necessary seek medical help.

When added to water, the baking soda and citric acid add fizz in order to draw the active tartar-preventing ingredients into solution while maintaining a healthy 7.6 pH.  While Periogen ingredients are used in both the food and dental industry, we had our product independently safety tested beyond what is required of an oral care product by Nelson Labs of Salt Lake City, Utah.

Use Periogen once or twice daily.  Brush teeth for 2 minutes with your favorite toothpaste prior to start.  Be thorough, brushing all tooth surfaces near the gum line and behind rear molars.

Swishing Method

• In a cup, dissolve 1/2 spoonful Periogen in 1/2 cup warm water.  For heavy or tenacious tartar accumulations, use up to 1-1/2 spoonfuls per 1/2 cup water.
• Swish solution in mouth for 1 minute or more, spitting & adding more Periogen solution as needed until cup is empty.

Brushing Method

• Mix 1/2 scoop Periogen per 4 oz. warm water in a cup.
• Dip the brush into the mixture & brush as you would with any toothpaste.

Oral Irrigator

• Use a Waterpik Ultra with a PikPocket tip.
• Use 2 spoonfuls of Periogen added to the Waterpik reservoir filled to the 400 ml line with warm water (about 2 cups of solution).  For significant tartar accumulations, or when first getting started, use 3 or 4 scoops of Periogen per application.  Once you achieve the results you are looking for you can back the mixture off to 1 spoonful per cup of water.
• Irrigate entire gum-tooth margin until solution is gone.  The goal is to get the mixture into the gum line, not irrigate teeth.  Systematically irrigate the gum tooth line pausing between teeth until all the mixture is used up.

Really Deep Dental Pockets

• Use periodontal applicator.  In a cup, dissolve 1/2 spoonful Periogen in 1/2 cup warm water.
• Draw Periogen solution into applicator & insert into each pocket & release solution.
