We have been buying Mitchum gel for years, and nothing else. The last purchase I made of this product was totally different from prior purchases. The gel is now watery, drips out of the top, drips on surfaces and on your hands as you use it. If you pack it to fly somewhere it leaks out all over the suitcase (We learned that the hard way). Even if you put it in a bag by itself it comes out of the bag sticky, slimy and nasty. How does a company change a good quality product to something like this and tell themselves it is a good change and the product they want to release to the market? They even changed the design of the applicator to a stupid design that no longer stays capped to contain the watery gel. This is totally unacceptable. We will no longer use this product and certainly would never recommend it to anyone!! Would like a refund for wasted money on the ones I ordered.

I have used Mitchum Gel for decades. Last year they changed the formula. Seems to still work OK as anti-perspirant/deodorant, but it's a nightmare to use now. The gel is now watery and drips out and off the applicator, running down the outside, getting all over your hands, all over your sink, all over your side and chest and floor and wherever else it flings out to.

To make matters worse, they used to have three small slots in the top of the applicator out of which you could squeeze a little bit to apply. The lid had matching tongues that inserted into the slots to plug them up so it wouldn't dry out or spill.

Now, they have about a HUNDRED little holes all over the top of the applicator and goo squeezes out all over the place. It's impossible to control and you always get too much coming out (or none at all). So not only does it get all over the place, I'm going through the bottles twice as fast.

Also, because the top no longer seals in the gel, if it knocks over on the counter it'll ooze out and get all over the container and all over the counter and you'll have a big cleanup job. And lose about half your product.

Such an inconceivable lack of intelligence leads me to believe the entire thing -- change in forumula to a watery mess and corruption of a functional applicator -- leads me to believe the potential for waste was intentional to get you to buy more and more and more and just waste it.

Unconscionable.

I've Emailed them and called them and tried to have an intelligent conversation about it and it's impossible to talk to anyone who knows anything. It's always, "I'm sorry YOU'RE having a problem with it" like it was my fault it's a sloppy mess. And no, they don't seem to think it's a problem and no, they don't have any plans of improving the applicator or the formula itself.

Super sloppy. Melts/liquifies in heat and spills all over. Cap doesn't stay on. I can't believe they replaced the outstanding Power Gel product. Mitchum has lost a customer for life. I'm switching to Dry Idea.

I have used this product daily for several yrs., but no more. Why the formula change; skin sticks together and to the clothing. Very very irritating.

The new formula melts and is very messy. Since I've taken off the seal, it runs in streaks down the body of the product. I have to wipe the container before I take off the cap and it grosses me out so much, I'm looking for a new anti-perspirant and this is soon going in the garbage. Because the anti-perspirant is in a perpetual state of melting, it's very sticky when you put it on and it takes longer to dry than the older formula. Plus who knows how many uses I'll get out of it if most of it is going in my cabinet.

We don't have A/C and it can get pretty hot in our apartment during the summer. I've used Mitchum Unscented and Mitchum Unscented for Sensitive Skin religiously for years and this has never happened to me before.

If you have A/C and good ventilation in your bathroom, you may not experience these issues. But if you plan on traveling in a warmer climate, I recommend that you pack this in a plastic bag separate from your other toiletries after you open it as a precaution.

(My comments apply to both the unscented and "Mountain Air" versions, in any size.) I have tried all the well-known brands of men's deodorants, but this one is my favorite. This particular way of dispensing a clear gel type deodorant is simple, clean, and works very well. Unlike solid stick deodorants, it does not stain the underarms of shirts or leave a waxy residue in your armpits. I like the unscented one, but the Mountain Air scent is also nice and not strong or annoying. Mitchum has been around a long time, and I think it is very under-rated perhaps because they don't do much advertising. Definitely I will continue to buy it.
