I am 6 months pregnant, so my hormones are affecting my skin greatly. I started to get some tiny flakes dandruff on my head, and a little itchy. I bought Garnier Fructis Anti Dandruff shampoo first, which has pyrithione zinc, used it a couple times - did not really do much. My hair got stringy and oily, almost as if there was a residue left on it. I then switched to Nizoral, with ketoconazole, used this couple times. Same result. Kind of helped with the itchiness, but didn't last. Small flakes continued. Same stringy, oily hair residue. I was almost going to try Neutrogena T Gel, with coal tar. But instead I bought Paul Mitchell Tea Tree Shampoo - which is just a cleansing, regular shampoo, not anti dandruff. It got rid of most of the residue, oily feel in my hair. My hair feels more or less back to normal after one use. The dandruff is still there, but it's not bad. And the itchiness went away. The shampoo feels GREAT on your head while you're using it - very cooling.

I know this shampoo is supposed to kill the yeast that causes dandruff, but it stripped the moisture out of my hair, which is highlighted and needs TLC. I'll stick with good ole Head & Shoulders, which works fine and is much gentler.

In reading the reviews, it may not work for some, but it WORKED for me. I tried all sorts of off the shelf products and those didn't do anything. What a relief that my nurse suggested Nizoral (which other patients had reported success with).

This is perhaps best dandruff shampoo ever produced. It completely eliminated my dandruff in less than a week. As a result, I can wear a black shirt and go out to clubs under fluorescent lighting and seen nothing on my shoulders. I have no visible dandruff flaking and the itchy scalp condition has nearly gone away completely. The 1% (non-prescription strength) shampoo used once a week provides sufficient dandruff control for most people with mild to moderate dandruff, although the directions state that the product should be used twice a week. This is perhaps the case if the dandruff is more severe. It is important to allow the lather to remain on the scalp for 5 minutes prior to rinsing. The Nizoral shampoo does tend to do a number on the body of the hair, so be sure to follow up with a good conditioner. I'm partial to Neutrogena Triple Deep Recovery.

I am absolutely unsatisfied by this product. Not only did it not stop the dandruff, but also my hair started falling out. To be honest there were some positive effects during the first two weeks when I washed my hair every day, but soon after that it was the same old situation.

I had been using the prescription Nizoral (which is 2% strength rather than the 1% of the over-the-counter version) to control flaking in my beard, which it did extremely well. I thought I would try the over-the-counter since it was so much cheaper (to those of you complaining about the price of this, the prescription version costs twice as much for a bottle half the size!) Unfortunately, it was completely ineffective.

I almost gave this four stars because the price is a bit steep - but, as other reviewers have said, it is WORTH IT. I would not go so far as to say that the fragrance is "wonderful

It left a coat of wax-like feeling on my scalp and there is no evidence of treating dandruff. The fresh feeling wouldn't last 24 hours. It makes me want to shampoo my hair after just half a day, even staying indoors. The worst part is that it makes my hair so dry and weak that I could snap my hair into half easily.

This product is really great. I just don't know why I ever bothered using other shampoos for my sensitive scalp, as none of them ever helped. I had bad flaking and itching all over my scalp for months. After I started using this, about 3 times a week for 3 weeks, the flaking and itching stopped (I used up the whole bottle). Price is well worth it, but I would not mind a bigger bottle for same price, and it has a really good smell.

This product is effective in reducing and even eliminating dandruff. About four years ago, I was having dandruff problems and purchased Nizoral based on the suggestion of a friend. I used it according to the directions on the bottle and saw results in a few weeks. I was very happy with the results and found the price to be (while a bit high) worth it. The effectiveness of this product was reinforced to me about a year ago when I ran out, and was out of town a fair amount didn't have a chance to purchase more straight away. Within about four weeks, the dandruff was back (though not as severely) and going back to using this product cleared it up again. I highly recommend this shampoo.
