I first bought this shampoo based off internet research and bulletin's and reading about various types of dandruff and acne issues on the back (bacne). On a well-known website for dermatology from a famous university there I saw pictures of acne on the back and neck that was treated in the traditional way for acne but unsuccessfully. It was later noted that this acne was not truly acne but rather a reaction to a specific type fungi/yeast that lives on the oil produced by the body. Of particular areas this thrives is the upper back and chest, and the triangle area directly above the cleft of the buttocks. Also on the scalp, wherever it is present the person has what seems to be deep, painful itchy zits. The people who had this type of fungi were all successfully treated with Ketoconazole. Ketoconazole is POWERFUL anti-fungal (belonging to the "azole" family). This shampoo is highly effective against this type of dandruff that may be untreatable with other types of dandruff shampoos. I bought this and the zits and bacne COMPLETELY WENT AWAY. The bad thing is, that I start to get acne almost immediately upon stopping its use. The good thing is, that this is the FIRST summer in years that I have been able to wear tank tops! Also, no more itchy bumps on my head and around my lower hairline. It also seemed to really make a difference with the acne I was getting on my face! I have been using it as a body wash for my back and upper chest as well as shampoo. This is how I got rid of my bacne and acne on my chest as well as the dandruff type symptoms on my head. I am thinking about using it as a face wash now too! BTW, you can get the 2% Ketoconozole shampoo from a dermatologist, but its usually not necessary. Try Nizoral first! Since it is anti-fungal, try using it for Tinea Versicolor, which is also a fungal based rash. (Results in patches of de-pigmented areas on the skin). Let the shampoo lather up and let it sit on your skin for 2 minutes before rinsing off. I can't stop using this stuff..I tried everything on my back, salycilic acid sprays, benzoil peroxide bars and creams. All I got from those were more zits or stained/bleached t-shirts. I am 34 years old, and I have no idea why I have these skin problems since I hit about age 30. I am attributing it to some sort of hormoneal imbalance. Ketoconazole also has anti-androgenic effects, and many body builders use it on their back and hair to prevent the thinning of hair and acne that results from their steroid abuse.

I have just started using this and so far it's been working. I have very dry flaky scalp and when I use it it works for about 2 days, where my scalp is not itchy. The con is that it strips your hair of all its moisture. Make sure that you use some conditioner after. It also has a pleasant smell.

Great product! My dandruff problem started a year ago, and I tried several different products without much help. I even asked a dermatologist and was given a prescription with the higher dose of the active ingredient, but I like this stuff much better. I started using it a week and a half before we went on vacation and by our first day by the pool all the flakes, itching, and irritation were gone. I used it everyday for the first week and a half but now have reduced the application. Try it!

Overall this is a great product. I could tell a difference with my dry scalp after one use. I do feel like it let my actual hair a little dry because it was so clean, but that was nothing a little conditioner couldn't fix.

My husband has used every shampoo under the sun for his scalp issues, he gets itchy dry spots and sores - no dandruff shampoo has worked for him at all. The Nizoral helped him within a week of straight use! I am so happy to have found something finally!!!!!

I have been using this product for one month. Per the instructions, I have been using the shampoo every 3-4 days.
The first day of use, my scalp was more dried out and flaky than usual. I still decided to give the shampoo a chance. After nearly one month of use, there has been no change with my scalp. It is still dried out and flaky.
I feel as though I've tried every dandruff shampoo and nothing helps alleviate my dry scalp. I will not be buying this product, again.

I have been trying for years to find a shampoo to eliminate the scalp plaques and flakes that have tormented me for years and Nizoral AD has totally cleared it up! Finally I can wear dark colored shirts again without the fear of embarrassing flakes:) The shampoo is gentle and lathers nicely but does leave your hair very dry so make sure to condition afterwards. It took about 2 weeks to see the full results but I could not be happier. I have spent hundreds of dollars on expensive salon shampoos and herbal shampoos but this is the only product that did not irritate my scalp and totally got rid of the buildup and flakes. Thank you so much for helping me be able to wear whatever I want again without the fear of dandruff on my shoulders:) I rarely write reviews but this product has been life changing for me and I hope to share it with others!

I have been using this anti-dandruff shampoo for a couple of years, and it is the only one proven to help. Other over the counter shampoos don't work as well. At least not for me.
