I have used this test before and found it quite easy to use. The hardest part is calling back in for the results. I was terrified! Even too terrified to hear a recording. I had been sick with flu symptoms and then strep throat within three weeks, and had other symptoms as well. Looking up your symptoms online is always a huge mistake, because you will freak out thinking you must either have HIV or cancer. So when I called in for my results, I kept pressing zero instead of entering my number and talked to a counselor before I felt ready to hear the results. She was so sweet and patient. I'm so glad I was able to talk to her first, and so relieved that my results were negative! Just have the courage to get tested, because worrying and stressing can take a toll on your health too.

Everything came nicely packaged, and the instructions were fairly simple. You will need to poke yourself, so be ready. The first problem is that you need to fill a decent sized circle with enough blood to saturate both sides of the thick paper. This is a LOT of blood. You then need to ship everything and wait at least 2 days - maybe more, depending on the service you get. Obviously, this wait could be a problem, but compounding the problem is that you can only receive results M-F, 7a-7p! Then, when you do call, the process takes a while and you will likely get transferred to a counselor. The seconds may seem like days for those who are nervous. Unfortunately, I did not provide enough blood for an accurate result, so it was a TOTAL waste of time. I bought an in-home saliva test and had my result in 5 minutes!! MUCH better.

I bought this test when I realized I had never actually had an HIV test and decided it was something that I should do. Like other reviewers have said, it's just good to know and gives you control over your health. I expected (and received) negative results.

The real point of my review, though, is to describe the blood collection process. I was terrified of this part, as I have a history of fainting at the sight of blood. I agonized over actually having to stick my own finger and take my own blood. So, after I opened the box, I set everything out on the table, read through the instructions, and the promptly decided that I couldn't handle taking my blood without a good night's rest. When I woke up the next day, I quickly re-read the instructions, put on headphones and tried to destract myself with music, gave my self lots of positive self-talk, and carried out the process. It was easy. I would even go as far as saying I could do it again. The kits includes 2 lancets (I guess one is a back-up because I only used one). You set the lancet on the table with the red button facing up, place your "puncture site" (I used the side of the pad on my ring finger) on the red button and push(it doesn't have to be extremely hard, just like pushing any other button). This triggers a tiny little needle to push into your finger and then it pulls it back out. I had it in my head that I was going to have to really shove my finger down on this needle and then yank it back off really fast - but that's not the case at all. I had plenty of blood for the test. The lancet does all the work for you, you just push the button. You hardly have to think about it. So, to my blood-fearing brothers and sisters out there, please don't let that keep your from getting tested. If I can do it, you can do it.

Like other reviewers have said, you let it dry for 30 min, then package it up in the fedex envelope that's provided, mail it off, and call for your results the next day. Others have said to call between 6:30 PM and 7:00 PM CST, if you can, in case you need to be routed to a counselor. When you call, there is an automated response that sort of takes a while to actually give you your results. I was a little surprised at that becuase you would think people would just want to hear "negative" and be on their way.

I gave this a con of "complicated instructions" just because they are comlicated - but they have to be. Obviously there is going to be more work on your part if you are doing a self-test versus going to the doctor. I had to re-read the inscrutions a few times AND read others' reviews in order to learn everything I needed to know. Granted, I was really distracted with the blood part, so I had a hard time concentrating.

Good luck! If you are on the fence about purchasing this product due to the blood part, no need to worry. It's easy, it's super quick, and you just push a button.

The packaging lies. Results are not available within 1 day. It took 4 days. I sent my result on a Friday and didn't get anything until Tuesday.

You also have to listen to a whole host of advertising/information each time you call - and you have to call at least twice (once to register, once to get your results). As such, it really is not as anonymous as they want you to think. They register the phone number and zip code you are calling from and ask many personal questions in trying to identify you. (You can opt out of the questions.)

The result was delivered as promised after 6:40 CST the next day. With an automated voice, your result will be blended in some guidelines and messages, which seems less never racking than the straight forward "your result is xxx". The only thing that seemed a little hard was to get enough blood drops. The waiting time was probably the most nerve-racking moments ever in my life. As it was only 10 minutes away from the results were expected to be ready, I even started to feel nauseous. Felt euphoric after hearing a negative result. Gained new perspective on life already: will treasure well-being more than anything. Next time, before it gets too intimate, it might save life to ask the person to see their STD status.

Service and delivery comments:

Placed order on Monday, shipped on Tuesday as "overnight" shipping, UPS delivered on Wednesday late afternoon so had to wait till Thursday to mail out the sample and get the result on Friday. So it seems a week-long process. If you are extremely anxious and cannot bear with UPS' always-and-of-the-day delivery, you should just go to a clinic that offers rapid test.

Giving the already positive reviews about this product, I am not going into much details about it per se. All I will say is that the service is superb and I would recommend it to anymore who would like to have the peace of mind.I will, however, provide some tips to those whom wish to buy this product from out of the US. These tips are as follows:1- There is no restriction on international use of this product (i.e. you can purchase and have it shipped to you buy the seller to any country available to that seller).2- In my case, I bought this product through [@] and the shipment was made via USPS. The expected delivery was 4-7 business days, however, it took around 3 weeks for delivery! This is simply because the package is out of the hands of USPS once it is out of the country. This caused me a bit of frustration since I could not even track the shipment via their service.3-The best thing to do to avoid such frustration is to find a seller who would use a fast international shipping courier such as Fedex, DHL or Aramex. You may also request any international couriers in your country to give you an address in the US in order to speed up delivery.4- Once I got the kit delivered, I used the kit as per instruction available in the kit. It was an easy and painless process.5- Although the product comes with a pre-paid over night shipping envelope (via Fedex), this can only be used within the US. Therefore, you would require to pay for your shipment.6- I decided to go with FedEx priority service to ship my blood sample as they guarantee delivery within 2-3 business days and costed me around $50 (do not let that turn you off as faster delivery means faster results and peace of mind). This service also provides effective tracking, name of the person who received the package and an image of his signature. This was very handy as I was able to confirmed receipt of the product by giving them the name of that person.8- You obviously can go with cheaper shipping, however, I do not recommend it as the blood sample needs to be tested within 10 days from the sample as the blood perishes after that and would not be fit for conducting the test.9- DO NOT PUT YOUR REAL NAME AS THE SENDER IN THE ENVELOPE. Instead place my Order ID number as the sender in the same way it appears in the pre-paid envelope you will find in the kit. This will protect your identity as well as allow Home Access to identify your order.10- The results will be available the next day of delivery at 6.30pm US Central Time (+5 GMT). So, do not bother calling earlier.11- The hardest part for me is waiting for the results. The best advice I can give to anyone is to get busy with activities such as work, studying, hanging out with friends and family. This will take your mind off the matter.In conclusion, although this service is made to be used within the US, it can be available for anyone around the world. In fact I was so happy to hear about this product as it is so reliable and protects your identity, especially if you live in a country that does not have anonymous HIV testing or simply do not have proper ways to appropriate procedures to deal with such tests (such as in my country in fact requires clinics to report any HIV+ results to the local authorities!!!)I was fortunate enough to be tested negative and to be given another chance. The instructions were clear and I had no problem getting enough blood. It took a lot of drops to cover that circle (and I made sure to overlap them a little). Just use big drops and not little ones or it won't soak through. I was worried about that because in the past when I've had finger sticks done for health screenings at work, the tech sometimes had trouble getting my blood out of my finger. But, they never took the time to warm up my hands.
My envelope went out in a late FexEx pickup around 7pm EST, and my results were ready the next day. I wasn't able to call until after their regular customer service hours, so I knew I'd be getting a recording either way.
On the recording I heard when I called to register my number, and also on the recording when I called for my results, it clearly states that you may be transferred to a counselor even if your results are negative. Obviously they've made improvements to this kit over the years regarding the way they handle the results, as previous posters indicated that they automatically assumed that being transferred meant you were positive. If you assume that now, you're not paying attention.
So now I have my results, and I don't have to wonder. Anyone who wants to get tested but doesn't want to go to a doctor or clinic can get what they need from this test.

I never write reviews but if I can put one person at ease it will be worth my time. The test is easy to use if you take a few minutes to read the directions. Also, take down the tracking number because you'll be stressed enough without worrying if it got to the testing site. Mine was picked up at 5:30pm and I had my results by 6:30pm the next day. You can bypass the long message just by hitting 1 for english and then putting in you eleven digit code followed by the #. If a recording comes on and explains you need to re test in six months that's a good sign your result will be negative. That was my experience after using this test three times. Worth the money for peace of mind and definitely an eye opener for me. Stay safe and be well.

After months of torturing myself online, convinced that i had HIV from spending 3 years in Thailand having unprotected risky sex with literally 30-40 prostitutes and more than that in casual affairs and getting all the symptoms usually connected with initial infection like rash and fever, I simply had to end this pain of not knowing and take the test. I was never going to go to a clinic and be tested and answer questions about my sexual history, i'd of felt terrible. So the home access test was ideal for me. I had gone to great lengths to organise my life for a HIV positive result. As you can imagine, the odds were stacked against me as a percentage of them hookers must have had HIV? But to my complete suprise the automated voice told me NO HIV ANTIBODIES WERE FOUND. I still can't believe it.I really have had a second chance.
Ok, please STOP online self diagnosing NOW!
That alone will end up killing you. Just be brave and wait for your results.
Test kit was easy to use apart from my own anxious shaking hands! My sample was collected on a Thursday evening 6pm, by 8am sat morning i got the result! Good luck everyone..You'll be fine

This does exactly as it says it does. I did not find it difficult to get blood from my finger after following the directions. Because I mailed it on Friday my next day results after receipt were Tuesday. If you do not want to go to a clinic and have the test done this is an excellent alternative.
