What is xylitol? Xylitol, a natural ingredient derived from birch trees, helps to prevent plaque buildup.
What is propolis and myrrh? We use two special herbal resins, propolis & myrrh, to promote a clean, healthy-feeling mouth. Propolis is a mixture of tree resin gathered by bees and myrrh resin comes from the myrrh bush.

I seem to have waxing & waning throid function, so am trying to avoid all the fluoride I can. This toothpaste seems to clean very well, and tastes great! It seems to "expand" a bit so perhaps has peroxide in it...I haven't gotten a microscope to check the ingredients. But I love it and plan to order more, when this gets low! I think it's my standard, going forward!

The taste was odd at first--less sweet than even the regular Tom's of Maine, which is way less sweet than regular toothpaste. But after two or three days I was used to it and now I LOVE it. MY teeth feel super clean for quite a while after brushing.

This toothpaste tastes a little different from most. That could be a positive or negative depending on your point of view. We like it. It seems to work well.

After a food allergy/intolerance test, I found out I had a severe intolerance to fluoride. I stopped using it and only found Tom's of Maine had a fluoride free toothpaste that kept my dentist happy. After trying fluoride I now find it breaks me out around my mouth and causes my teeth and gums to hurt like they were scrubbed with sand papers. I can only use Tom's of Maine now. The xylitol really does work to help clean teeth.

I use this toothpaste daily so I was delighted to find it in this great travel size. This flavor is delicious and always makes my mouth feel fresh and clean.

I like the Tom's of Maine toothpastes because they do the job (clean teeth, leave no residue, protect against cavities) while tasting pleasant and not sweet. Tom's doesn't spend money on fancy gels or stripes, opting instead for a firm texture and a clean, non-sugary taste. And they are natural.

As I mentioned above, the xylitol and lack of fluoride are big attractions for me. The only way to improve on this product would be to make it cheaper (the premium is a marketing strategy), and create another variety with potassium nitrate (for sensitive teeth).
