Order a shade darker than you think you need. I have fair/light skin and bought the Light shade - it looks WHITE on my skin. It has slightly reflective ingredients that work well as a highlighter: inner corner of the eyes, under brows, cupid's bow of lips, and even as a soft eyeshadow. The undertone of the color is not natural enough to pass as concealer (which needs to match the skin).
