I believe this product helped to heal burns on my arm from baking; but they stilll took longer than 10 days to heal. I was glad I purchased it and it arrived quickly to use, however.

Pros: Heals chapped skin, Long Lasting, Moisturizes Well, Softens Skin
Cons: Too Greasy or Heavy
Describe Yourself: Brand Buyer
Best Uses: After Shower/Bath, Bedtime, Deep Moisturization, Dry/Chapped Skin, Eczema, Winter Dryness
Bottom Line: recommended
I first learned about Aquaphor when my mother was bed ridden. We used it on pressure points on her body to prevent bed sores. My husband gets cracked skin on his feet in the winter, a few applications heals it right up. We use it on my infant son's exema, I've used it for chapped lips, it's great to moisturize my legs after shaving, and I use it as a barrier when using self tanners too so my elbows and knees won't get orange. If I have dry skin anywhere, I put some on at night and everything is soft in the morning. There is nothing better for a variety of uses. It is heavy and greasy, and lasts a long time on your skin, but it does it's job wonderfully.
Aquaphor Healing Ointment rates 4 out of 5 stars, from 36 customer reviews. This is my new night "cream"
by jjam1303[Verified Buyer] in Charlotte, NC on 6/7/09
Pros: Goes On Smoothly, Long Lasting, Moisturizes Well, Softens Skin
Cons: Doesn't Absorb Well, Too Greasy or Heavy
Describe Yourself: Budget Buyer
Best Uses: Bedtime, Deep Moisturization
Bottom Line: recommended
I have been using this as my night "cream" for about the past month. I slather it all over my face at night, even my eyelashes, and I wake up with soft skin that is highly hydrated and my lashes seem to have actually gotten a little stronger and thicker. I don't have use as much daily moisturizer as I use to either. When I wake up in the morning, I use a daily facial cleansing wipe to clean my face of any that hasn't absorbed into my skin. Obviously, the biggest thing is that since it's an ointment type product, it is greasy and doesn't absorb right away into your face, which takes a bit getting use to. My pillow cases though have not been stained at all. That is my biggest complaint, but I will not be buying expensive night creams that don't work as well as this. I love that I can put it ANYWHERE on my face, even the delicate eye area and I have no problems.

This is fantastic! I will definitely always have a jar of this around. It is good for healing up burns, scrapes, cuts, sunburns, etc - SO much faster than anything else. It is also nigh-upon miraculous for healing rough, chapped, or scaly skin. It is the best for chapped lips, winter hands, rough patches of skin, etc. I have even used it as a face cream. All-around great product.

Best Uses: Bedtime, Deep Moisturization, Dry/Chapped Skin

i love, love, love this stuff! i hate when people say "you should just buy Vaseline - it's the same." it's so NOT the same! the extra ingredients make it so much better. as other reviewers have said this locks the moisture in, it is not meant to fully moisturize on it's own. ps; i use this on my face. (as well as hands & lips) it is a common misconception that petrolatum & mineral oil will always clog your pores. they don't. google it. anyways, i would apply it right after i showered/wash my face to lock in the moisture except i have to wait 30 minutes after i shower/wash my face to apply retin-a. so after i apply my retin-a i spritz my face with Mac Fix + (any facial spritz would do, even water.) & then apply the aquaphor. i try not to go crazy but if i do feel i have applied too much i will take a tissue & simply blot (or wipe) & work it in with my fingers until i am satisfied. if you use the right amount your face will be moisturized, not greasy. i can even wear powder over it. my skin looks luminous not oily. it also takes off make-up like a dreeeeeam.

Aquaphor Healing Ointment rates 3 out of 5 stars, from 36 customer reviews.good protection for swimmers
by Jose[Verified Buyer] in Portland, OR on 1/31/09
Pros: Goes On Smoothly, Long Lasting, Moisturizes Well
Cons: Too Greasy or Heavy
Describe Yourself: Brand Buyer
Best Uses: Skin Protection
Bottom Line: recommended
My son is a swimmer, spending an average 3 hrs/day in the pool 6 days/wk, year round. He has very fair skin - no blemishes at all but is sensitive to chapping/irritation. Depending on the particular pool and the length of expoure, his face would sometimes become extremely red and chapped - like a bad sunburn. He started putting aquaphor on before he went in the pool, and it has significantly help protect his skin - he doesn't have the extreme post-pool irritation, and his skin is generally less dry. It is heavy and greasy - and it would not be suitable for him to use as a daily moisurizer or post-swim moisturizer. But it works very well as a protectant, and I would also use it as a therapeutic ointment for extremely dry/cracked hands/feet, etc.

i love this stuff. it's what i use at bed for my lips and hands. it might be too heavy for a lot of people but i'm 43 and i wash my hands a lot and in the winter i need extra help with dry hands and this stuff does the trick. i love that it has no smell- i have a very sensitive nose and can't use my other body creams at bedtime- the smells are too strong.
