BD Digital Basal Thermometer rates 3 out of 5 stars, from 55 customer reviews. Not accurate enough
by jts[Verified Reviewer] in Houston, TX on 11/4/09
Pros: Easy to Use
Cons: Inaccurate, Unreliable
Bottom Line: not recommended
At first I was very hopeful that I'd finally found a reliable, consistent BBT thermometer. I tested it immediately and got two matching temps so I trusted it for a few weeks. Then I decided to test again one night and took five in a row. Sadly, each temp ranged anywhere from .2 - .5 degrees (up and down) which is HUGE if you are charting for TTC. I've only been using it for about two weeks so I doubt it's a battery issue but whatever the case, I don't recommend this. And I agree that it is loud. My husband can not only hear it in bed in the morning but also from the other room with the TV on. I'd happily overlook that if only it were reliable. :(

Pros: Accurate, Easy to Use
Cons: Flimsy
Describe Yourself: Athletic
Best Uses: Adults
Bottom Line: recommended
Right on cue with accurate temps. Perfect if you are TTC. Casing is flimsy though and I often drop it as I am going to use it to take my morning BBT. But it is super accurate. Much better than a generic brand thermo.

This is a terrific product if you are trying to track your BBT. I used it in predicting the ovulation for our first child & now again in trying for our second. The best part about this product is you will here beeps that confirm you have the proper temperature technique. After a few seconds you will hear distincly different "completion beeps". This thermometer comes with very detailed instructions on use, it is very user friendly!

Pros: Accurate, Easy to Use, Hygienic, Reliable
Cons: None
Bottom Line: recommended
PLEASE do not listen to those who are stating that this thermometer isn't accurate enough for basal temps because it doesn't record to the 100th of a degree. Tony Weschler states in her book Taking charge of your fertility, a pioneer book on the subject of the Fertility Awareness Method (and NFP), on page 76 of the revised edition, "It is imperative that it [thermometer] be accurate to within 1/10th degree F. (for example, 97.4), BUT DO NOT USE THOSE THAT MEASURE TO WITHIN 1/100TH OF A DEGREE (for example, 97.47) since the latter are unnecessary and confusing." (emphasis added). This thermometer does does a perfectly fine job of recording waking temperatures and I've been using it for almost two years with total success. I can always see when I have ovulated. I love this thermometer and all the features that come with it and I would most certainly recommend it to a friend.

Pros: Pretty
Cons: Can'tread100thsofdegrees, Changes temp constantly, Inaccurate, NOT a fertility therm, Unreliable
Describe Yourself: Athletic, Mom
Best Uses: Not as a thermometer
Bottom Line: not recommended
This thing is advertised for fertility charting, but you need to be able to read 100ths of degrees (i.e. 98.32) to do that. This one only reads tenths of degrees (98.6) and is NOT SENSITIVE enough to detect ovulation if you are trying to conceive. It doesn't even work as a day-to-day thermometer. You can take your temperature three times in a row and get wildly different readings. I wish drugstore.com would carry a proper BBT!
BD Digital Basal Thermometer rates 1 out of 5 stars, from 55 customer reviews.NOT FOR FERTILITY CHARTING
by pdxmom[Verified Reviewer] in oregon on 8/27/09
Pros: It's Pink
Cons: False advertising, Inaccurate, Not a BBT thermometer, Unreliable
Describe Yourself: Athletic, Mom
Best Uses: Good question
Bottom Line: not recommended
Please do not buy this if you are trying to track your fertility. It will not work. A fertility thermometer needs to record your temperature down to hundredths of degrees -- for example 98.36. This one only does tenths -- for example 98.3 -- and in most cases will not be sensitive enough to detect ovulation. It is falsely advertisted for this purpose. Also, you can record your temperature three times in a row and get three very different readings. So it's not even accurate as a home thermometer. I bought two[...] Don't make my mistake!
BD Digital Basal Thermometer rates 5 out of 5 stars, from 55 customer reviews.Best Basal Thermometer EVER!
by Danielle[Verified Reviewer] in new york, new york on 8/22/09
Pros: Accurate, Backlight, Easy to Use, Memory recall, Reliable, The beeps
Cons: None
Bottom Line: recommended
This is by far the best thermometer to use to track your temperatures. Its features really set it apart from all others. The beeping lets me know if I'm properly taking my temperature....not that its hard but I find doing things in the early morning is a thousand times more difficult :0) The thermometer then beeps when its done so I don't have to try to guess in the dark. When I turn it off the backlight turns on briefly to show what the temperature was which is great to make sure there were no errors or anything. Often times I remember what my temperature was but if I don't, I can always turn it back on and see what the temp was with the memory recall (tip: if you turn if off again before your temp disappears, then the next time you turn it on it will still be on the stored on the memory recall feature) Another tip: The beeping doesn't sound loud to me, but it will wake my husband at times. However this is EASILY remedied by putting a finger over where the sound comes out on the back. My husband hasn't woken up since.
BD Digital Basal Thermometer rates 3 out of 5 stars, from 55 customer reviews.great, but loud!
by Sarah[Verified Buyer] in TN on 8/4/09
Pros: Accurate, Easy to Use, Reliable
Describe Yourself: Average Health
Best Uses: Adults
Bottom Line: recommended
I use the thermometer every morning, as directed. Because the directions say not to get out of bed before using, I take my temperature first thing when my alarm goes off, or earlier if I wake up at 4 AM to go to the restroom. The only problem is that the "beep" to check for correct positioning is so loud that it wakes my husband up. There is no way to turn off the beep, and if you get out of bed to take the temp in the next room, then it won't be accurate. Just something to think about.

easy to use, very accurate. TTC#1. the only thing that is kind of weird is that it is rounded so when i set it down on my nightstand, it doesn't lay flat. otherwise, good little thermometer.
