I work outside and often am not near a facility to change protection. On really heavy days of my cycle, I change them more often-- if they get too full there is potential to leak. They are discreet, most folk don't recognize the package. I try not to use them at night, just to allow my insides a chance to breath. They might take a new user a bit of time to get used to the product, but the payoff is great. People who have used a diaphragm might have the easiest transition. That being said, they are not a birth control. I believe they can be worn during sex with an alternate method of birth control.

This is great for light days. Or if you are expecting your period that day, but it has not started yet, but don't want any surprises. Put it in and you are ready for when it does start - after all, you can't predict where you will be when it does start. BUT, it does leak on heavier days. If your muscles push against the plastic, it can push the liquid out.

i have been using insteads for years. they're especially good if you have heavier periods. i started buying them because it allows me the luxury of sleeping through the night comfortably while on my period. they aren't as necessary on lighter days but once you're hooked on these, you'll wear them through the whole period because they're so easy. follow the instructions, make sure you insert far enough up but, don't get them if the thought of taking them out makes you squeamish. other than that they are perfect and a time (and dignity) saver!

This is a great alternative to regular tampons! There are no risks to using them. Although they can be a little messy on really heavy days, they allow a much greater capacity and more comfort. For me that's only a day or two and may not be every month. It's great for regular or light days; doesn't leak and never leaves you with that dried out feeling. Have even managed sex with one in.

I love this product! There are very few products in this world that have changed my life. THIS IS NUMBER 1!!! On my heavy day(s) I change more often, but for the other 95% of my period, I change these once in the morning and once at night. And you can have sex with it in - NO MESS!!! What could be better than that?!?!?! It takes a couple months to get used to, but I so worth it! I tell everyone I can about this fabulous product!

I have used Instead for so many years now I can't imagine having to use tampons. I even attempt to use the Diva Cup, but it was uncomfortable compared to Instead. I actually have to leave on on the floor in my toilet area to remind me that I am wearing one. I am not saying I have never had a leak, but very seldom have I. I was just having a really heavy period and didn't change soon enough. You have to be pretty comfortable with your own body as you squeeze the Instead into a figure 8 and instert horizontally and push the outter in further in right behind your pelvic bone, and to remove you just grab that edge and pull out the same level way, wrap in toilet paper and trash!

Last month was my first time using Instead and I really LOVE the product. Very easy to insert and take out, but removing it does get a bit messy as other reviewers have indicated. I have just stocked up and will NEVER go back to pads or tampons. Surprisingly, the Instead cup really DOES give you about double the time that other feminine protection gives, which is great. They are disposable, but NOT flushable. When removing, keep the cup somewhat level, emptying the contents into the toilet, then just wrap and toss. It's about time someone came up with this idea!

I'm reading that most users love this. I've personally passed the product on to others so they, too, can love it. It's a mystery why more people haven't heard of this product. I used to buy it at[...], but now we're stationed over in Germany - so I have to order online (thank you drugstore.com). God forbid they have anything smaller than bales of cotton here. Anyway, I've learned, when I remove this, to have some toilet paper in the palm of my hand while I pull it out. I wrap that in the plastic the new one came in & no mess. The person who wrote they made a mess on the floor - well, that's just no couth on their part; you can't remove it like you're out for revenge & fling it - it IS a small bowl of your blood - jeez, just pay a little more attention! But it's great & I do love it - especially during swimming. The only thing I have to really pay attention to is when I do any squatting. I think it moves a little inside; but i also have a back up panty liner. I'll be ordering more today. Thank you again!

I've been using Instead for a few years now and I absolutely love it. You do trade the comfort with having to deal with the more messy disposal of the cup, but to me it's well worth it and I have worked out the best way to deal with it. With Instead I only have to use one each day, and I cannot feel it there at all. It may take some getting used to and occasionally it could shift and leak a little, so be sure to check it each time you use the bath room. I recommend using disposable gloves, like the kind they use in a deli - they are cheap and can keep your hand clean. I hate MS but with Instead it becomes more bearable.
