Easy, A Little Painful

I was a little scared about using it the first time, but it was actually quite comfortable. It apparently shifted a little during my aerobics workout and it started to really hurt on the way home, which is a 45 minute drive down a road with no stopping points except on the side of the road. It took me a little bit to recover from that, but once I had gotten home and adjusted it I was fine within about 45 minutes. I couldn't tell until it started to hurt that anything was wrong. It also seemed to cause a little bit of residual soreness inside after using for a couple days, so I would recommend using it during the day and switching to a pad at night. But it's not really that messy, and there are no worries about leaking. I love it for daytime and workout use.

The product was recommended to me by a woman I work with. She explained that I needed to give it two cycles before making my decision so that I could get used to it. It took me three days to get the insertion and removal down, but after that I just fell in love with it. It eliminates odors, is extremely comfortable when working out or swimming, and on regular flow days it only has to be changed twice a day. On heavier days I change it three times. I've found that the Always Feminine Wipes are great to use to clean up when changing out the Instead in a public bathroom in a pinch. Despite the claims that you can have sex with the product in, we tried it and it was extremely painful - I definitely wouldn't do it again. Previously, I had used pads primarily (tampons were too uncomfortable and dried me out) and now I won't use anything else. It's so nice not to wear a diaper-like pad, especially in the summertime and when working out.

I have used Insteads for 5 or more years now and still love them. I love that you can't feel them when they are in. I love that you don't try to sit down and have that sharp pinch that you'd get sometimes with tampons. I love it you don't get it right, you can try again with the same one. I love that you can leave them in up to 12 hours. I'll be the first to say that you have to be patient. It probably took me a period or two to get use to the insertion and removal method. Sometimes I had a real mess on my hand! But, I can wipe off my hand with toilet paper and that would take care of it until I could get to the sink to wash properly. The comfort of Insteads made up for the Practice time. On heavy days, I always wear a panty liner also. I have recommended these to many people and personally, I haven't known anyone who hasn't had children who were able to get them in right. Of course, I don't know how patient the people were either and it does take a little practice. But, so comfortable and no string in the way when you are using the toilet! Yae.

Works great on medium and light days, but do not use on heaviest days. I also noticed that some women said you can use during intercourse, but we tried and I would not recommend it unless the man is smaller than average. My husband said it felt strange.

I adore this product. They are not easy to find, but they are carried by a local drugstore at a much higher cost. These can be a bit messy to remove if they are full. But please...it's our body and blood. These won't dry you out like a tampon, and you don't smell like when you where a pad (decay blood can stink). Easy to insert, and easy to remove. I've had 4 kids and they stay in just fine. If you are going to use them on a heavy flow day, you do need to empty it or change it every 3 hours at least. Otherwise I can go up to the 12 hours with no leakage. You can have sex with these in. People have also used them after intercourse during their fertile time to help keep fluids close to the uterine opening longer. Still not marketed for this , but I understand there is talk.

I was part of the test group for this product AGES ago, and have been using it ever since. I still cannot believe how it stays under the radar, I guess they just need Oprah to mention it on her show. It is a bit messy at removal, read the directions before you use it, but try it instead of tampons etc, it is MUCH better!!!!!!!!! Do not sleep in it, use pads at night.

I find that I can use just one in a 24 hour period. since my periods are light, I only use 4-5 per period and save money overall compared to a box of tampons. On heavier days you will need to change more often but still less often than a tampon.
