A most common complaint and side effect of codeine based pain killers is constipation Cascara Sagrada is very good for relieving these symptoms with a natural product. Expect some gas however. If you are on heavy dosage of opioids you may have to take several a day to get relief.

This product was recommended by my doctor for chronic constipation when laxatives no longer were effective. Other products on the market did not work for me, either I could not keep them down or I had an allergic reaction to them. Anyway this works for me, I have been taking it for several years with no problem. It only effects the colon so you do not get the stomach problems, cramps or pain that comes with many other products including laxatives.

Having used this product for over 30 years, it has proven to be very effective for me and basically has eliminated chronic constipation and returned regulariity through daily use. It is mild, dependable and effective. It will darken any polups you may have in a colonocopy, however I have been told this does not appear to be a problem and allows them to be clearly visible for removal.

Pain killers with codeine in them are notorious for causing constipation. If you can learn the correct balance, probably means several tabs, you can correct the problem naturally. Other than getting the right amount of tabs balanced with the degree of the constipation, I can see no side effects from the Cascara Sagrada. I have only used this brand.

Recommended by my doctor when laxatives were no longer effective in helping to releive constipation from long term use of pain medications. I have had no side effects and no loss of effectiveness from long term use. Research on the product says that it only effects the colon (unlike laxatives) and actually helps it to function better.
Take at bedtime as needed with a full glass of water. Adults & children age 12 and over: Take 1-2 capsules. Children 2-12 years of age: Take 1 capsule. Children under 2 years of age: Consult a doctor. Do not exceed recommended dose. Do not take for more than 1 week as frequent or prolonged use may result in dependence.
