I have straight, very fine hair and this works very well. I have used it for many years. It provides a strong hold and lasts throughout the day. Does not flake, and has a minimal scent.

My husband has used only this gel for several years. It lasts forever. Best for fine, straight hair. Very stiff, just need to use a tiny bit. My husband actually adds a little water. Does have a strong (but good)smell. Would overpower any cologne...
