best price available online, this prefilter is big enough to be cut into 3-4 stips when used with the 11 inch Hepa filter like the one I ordered. That means you get a years worth of usage, it's recommended to replace the prefilter every 3 to 4 months. some units use a larger hepa filter with those you can devide the prefilter in half and get two uses out of it. The prefilter comes with perforations at 11 inches apart to help cut it but it is a little tricky to cut . take your time cutting maybe use a ruler and sharpe pen to mark out the line then cut.

We have a HEPA Honeywell air purifier that uses these filters. Have been unable to locate the filters locally so we have to buy from Drugstore.com. Really no real issues with the filter -- we change it every 3 months. We use it in a room where there's a cat litter box and it really helps keep down the odors. The filter comes perforated so you can tear it to fit around your HEPA filter. When I tear it at the perforations, there's a lot of black, gritty debris that's shedded from the filter, but we just vacuum it up. It is a bit pricey, too.

Replace Carbon Pre-filter at least every 3 months

Installation Instructions:

Refer to owner's manual for additional information and safety guidelines.

Turn the air cleaner OFF and unplug from power outlet.
To open, unscrew the locking mechanism and separate the lid (or endcap for 17000 series) from the base.
Remove the filter assembly (pre-filter and HEPA filter) from the internal chamber.
Remove the pre-filter from the HEPA filter and discard.
Remove the new pre-filter from its package. Place the HEPA filter on a flat surface. Take the new pre-filter and put it next to the HEPA filter to determine size. Carefully cut along the perforation that most closely matches the height of the HEPA filter. Cut the new pre-filter so that it does not extend above the HEPA filter. Notice that for some smaller models there is sufficient amount of filter material left over to use as a second pre-filter. Carefully wrap the new pre-filter around the HEPA filter and attach using the fasteners provided.
Place the filter assembly into the internal chamber, replace the lid (or endcap) and base, and tighten the locking mechanism. Turn unit to an operable position.
Using the convenient pre-filter Change Reminder labels provided, peel off and write in the next month you need to replace the pre-filter (which is 3 months from the change) and place it onto your air cleaner. for model 17000 series, reset pre-filter button according to directions in owner's manual.
Plug air cleaner into a power outlet and it is ready for operation.
