Even though the description warned me that this might need a converter, I still took a chance and hoped that it would be dual-voltage (for overseas travel). Well, it's most definitely not. But it does the job, gets very hot, and is easy to use, so I'll be using this for domestic travel. It's not too small and about 25% smaller than my regular iron, so I wouldn't call it compact, but it's just right for a curling iron. I also have the tiny iron from a different vendor, and it's too small to do my entire head of hair (only good for touchups). I'm really surprised that they didn't make this iron dual voltage, I still can't believe that a travel appliance wouldn't have that simple feature.
