I spray up pants & shirt, let dry, and this is what I wear for the next few days whenever I work in the garden or the woods. If I go hiking I'll spray my pants before I leave. In the years that I have been using Repel I have had one tick on my pants, & it was a dead one. Absolutely would not be without this product. Have recommended it to many of my friends.
The mosquitoes are thick here in Upstate New York this year and I can see them but they don't bother me if I have Repel on my clothing. I have an outfit I use for Berry picking and renew the spray every 2 weeks as directed, even spray my hat. I'm not afraid to go into the woods anymore.
We are in coastal NC and ticks are a big problem. We buy this to apply to our clothing (never put it directly on your skin!!) to repel the ticks. But it is also DEADLY on any insect that crawls or flies! I've used it on roaches, wasps, spiders etc. We keep cans of it under the kitchen sink, in the workshop and in the car. It is really the most effective product we've found for killing insects-especially ticks.
Bought this for the first time for a trip up to Northern WI. Product worked great as there were a lot of mosquitos during our visit. Combined with a bug repellent, it looked like there was a barrier that kept the mosquitos from landing on my clothes. The spray did cause some white splotches to show up on my clothes, though have not had the chance to run it through the wash yet.
I've found this product to be 100% effective against ticks WHEN USED AS DIRECTED. I spend lots of time in the woods on trail construction in East Tennessee during the peak of tick season. The only tick I've seen was a dead one on my pants. Service from Drugstore.com was great--arrived sooner than expected. I always use them to get hard-to-find items, especially when I need large quantities.
I use it to protect against ticks and mosquitoes while camping and hunting in the South and it works very well. Very low odor that doesn't spook game. I wish it were available in spray bottles instead of just small aerosol cans.
Shake well before using. General clothing instructions: For protection against ticks (including those that may carry Lyme disease), chiggers and mosquitoes, apply product as described below. For further protection, use in conjunction with an insect repellent registered for direct application to the skin and utilize the following primary preventive measures. Avoid walking in areas where pests are found, wear appropriate protective clothing (light-colored, long-sleeved shirt and long pants tucked into socks) and inspect body daily for ticks. Pant cuffs should be worn inside the socks or footwear to ensure full protection against ticks and chiggers. Initial treatment instructions: 1. Select a well-ventilated outdoor area protected from wind and lay out the clothing to be treated (as complete outfit: Shirt, pants and socks). 2. Hold container about 6 - 8 inches from surface of the clothing and spray with a slow, sweeping motion to lightly moisten the entire surface of the fabric. 3. Continue spraying over entire outfit until a total treatment time of 60 seconds has elapsed and the outer surface of the fabric is moist enough to cause a slight color change or darkening. Pay special attention to socks, pant cuffs and shirt cuffs. 4. Turn the clothing over and treat the other side as directed in Steps 2 and 3. 5. Hang the treated clothing and allow to dry for at least two hours (four hours under humid conditions) before wearing. 6. Three ounces will treat one complete outfit. Initial treatment instructions on nets, tents, sleeping bags and backpacks: Select a well-ventilated outdoor area protected by wind and lay out article to be treated. Hold container upright about 6 - 8 inches from surface of the article and spray with a slow, sweeping motion to lightly moisten the surface of the fabric. Continue spraying over entire article until the outer surface of the article is moist enough to cause a light color change or darkening. Turn the article over and treat other side as described above. Hang the treated article and allow to dry for at least two hours (four hours under humid conditions) before using. Re-treatment instructions: This product contains an active ingredient that actually binds to the fabric being treated, providing residual protection, which lasts a minimum of two weeks and holds up through several machine washings. For re-treatment, follow instructions for initial treatment. Storage and disposal: Storage: Store in a cool, dry area, inaccessible to children and away from heat or open flame. Disposal: If empty: Place in trash or offer for recycling if available. If partly filled: Call your local solid waste agency for disposal instructions.
