Tampons Without Chemicals Yay

I am using more natural products for myself and family as I find we are much healthier. I do have infection problems so I read where it would be a good idea to stay away from any harsh chemicals like the bleaching and treatments in women's products. I couldn't give them 5 stars as I have two issues with this product. I don't like that even with an applicator the tampon is hard to fully insert. I find myself often not using cardboard applicator and am usually forced to throw it that away as it does not properly release the tampon. And the price is a bit much so I switch back and forth between the Natracare and regular tampons.

I was a little nervous about trying a natural brand of tampon but had had a bad reaction to the non-natural brands- almost like an allergic reaction to something they used to treat the cotton. I tried these and have had no problems with allergic reactions in the 5 years I've used them. Would definitely to recommend them to someone who has trouble with the chemicals in the non-natural ones- for whatever reason. I recently tried the Seventh Generation ones that are comparable, but ended up sticking with the Natracare. Although the Seventh Generation ones were good, these are definitely better.As far as the non-discrete comment- these have an applicator, so that's hard to hide no matter what. They do, however, make ones without if that is an issue.

I would love to have 'healthy' tampons, but I can't afford the stains and the mess. I have a very busy schedule and I've had to go home from work to change clothes because of how ineffective these are. The leaking is so bad, I might as well have not had a tampon at all! You definitely have to wear a pad as well if you use these. I don't know how other users thought they were effective.

These tampons offer good protection without bleach, pesticides or any non-biodegradable packaging. They are more expensive than the major brands, but completely worth the peace of mind. The shape is somewhat less effective than the bell shaped, non-applicator variety, but for situations where an applicator is really more convenient (i.e. workplace) these are the next best thing.

I really wish that these tampons had been more absorbent and gave me better protection. I used these on my heavy to medium days and they didn't absorb much at all. In fact, they didn't even expand at all after use. It is great that they are better for you and the environment, but just didn't work for me.

The best thing about these tampons are that they are organic, Tampax and other big brands use Rayon and cotton processed with Bleach, bad for the body. I do wish that the applicator was more like Tampax though, it is hard to grip and it doesn't insert as smoothly as it should, but all in all it's the best tampon for everyone and the environment.

I really wish they would improve the applicator on these. As another reviewer said, they do not include ridges/indentions on the applicator as some others do... it seems the cardboard pieces get "stuck" together and I cannot get a good hold on it to completely push it in. I actually had to throw away 2 after not being able to insert them correctly. I have noticed some reduced absorbency -- but that doesn't bother me since tampons should be changed regularly anyway to reduce risk for TSS. I liked these in general, but am not going to purchase them again because I wasted money by having to throw some away!
