This cleanser is unlike any out there. I use it twice a day, and it works great. I have dry skin, and as I'm washing away the cleanser in circular motions, I can literally feel the dead skin coming off. It's unlike anything I've ever seen. The only thing I do believe one has to be careful with, is that this cleanser's instructions tell you to leave the solution on your face for 5-10 min before washing it off. I suggest not leaving it on longer than 5 minutes, because during this time, you will feel tingling and irritation and it can be somewhat uncomfortable at first. Once you wash it off, you no longer feel irritated, you just feel clean, but there were times at the very beginning of using this product, that my skin was pink around my cheek bones. It goes away rather quickly so it's nothing to worry about. Also, this cleanser wipes away all dead skin and impurities and leaves your skin feeling tight, so I definitely suggest using a good moisturizer after using it so you don't overdry if you tend to have dry skin like me, and you're good to go. I definitely have seen my face clear up and much cleaner since I started using this cleanser so it's all worth it!

This is my new favorite facial cleanser for so many reasons! The first reason is for the fact that this face wash ACTUALLY cleans your skin! It does not leave your skin dry, but rather soft and feeling hydrated. I also love how this is 100% natural and has so many beneficial ingredients. which is the second reason I am loving this product. It has African Black Soap, Sunflower Oil, Coconut Oil, and Virgin Rosehip Oil. One night I started using this cleanser. I wet my face, and massage some of this product onto my skin. It is black and somewhat slippery. But once I start massaging it into my wet skin, the black color fades. I leave it in for 6 minutes and rinse. My face feels so clean afterwards! Not squeaky sulfate clean, but healthy clean. I have a few red pimples, and after a few days of using this product, I have really started to see improvement, because my red pimples were less red and less noticeable. This is another product from Shea Terra that I will be repurchasing! I am also going to try using this as a facial scrub, which you can do by adding organic sugar to it and letting it settle on your face for 10 minutes. Two skincare products in one!

I was hesitant to try African black soap because I was used to the squeaky feel after a good cleanse from foaming, creamy cleansers. I had to start switching my regime to more natural sources because of pregnancy. I have now slowly replaced all my creams and serums and the last bit is finding a cleanser. For my cleansing routine, I double cleanse to remove makeup and use regular cleanser in the morning. I have switched to coconut oil to cleanse first then this. I was disappointed that the soap doesn't lather at first but I realized if I pump on a dry hand and wet the other hand, I can lather and wash my face. It took some getting used to but after a few weeks, all my hormonal acne started clear. I did mention dual purpose and what I do with this cleanser is to make it a mask to microexfoliate. I slather it on for 10-15 minutes and let it dry, wet my hands then lather the cleanser and wash off. It leaves my pores tight and my skin looks smooth like glass! I used to use expensive ones like REN glycolactic but I'm glad I can use this for a more cost effective routine. I will be purchasing as long as possible!

I tried a few times NOT to buy it because I watch my money and kind of believe I can get similar benefits from Aveno or Burts for a lower price. But I have had so many people comment on my glowing skin every time I use this, that there's no room for doubt that this is directly responsible for my skin's glowing review. I was doing it wrong for the first bottle though and that kills me. I was just lathering up (which it does beautifully). You are supposed to leave it on for around 3-5 min. Still I use it morning and night and massage it for about 1 minute and if I have time do the 5 minute recommended treatment. It removes all traces of makeup - everything and still makes me feel not stripped bare. I have the most delicate, sensitive, hypo-allergic skin out there as a red-head with allergies. But this is perfect. And hopefully as the bottle says, money goes to a really wonderful cause.Plus cruelty-free. All boxes ticked. Worth the money for sure.

This soap smells like old cigarette butts, but boy does it work wonders on the skin! It does not dry out your skin unlike almost every facial wash I have ever tried. My pores are actually clean for the first time in many years. I use this cleanser after exfoliating with the black sugar scrub or the grapefruit scrub by freeman beauty. I then spray my face lightly with rose water (the rose water spray by the same company is what I am currently using). Then I apply a very thin layer of neutrogena rapid clear acne defense face lotion, followed by one pump of neutrogena oil free moisture for sensitive skin. My skin has never looked so good! On days that my skin needs a deeper exfoliation, I start off my routine with freeman beauty's pumpkin peeling mask. I have extremely sensitive skin and this has become my winning combination of beauty products.

I would never have guessed that a black soap would be such a treat for my skin. I tend to get rough patches on my cheeks, but this has done the trick. It makes my skin feel fabulous.

I was having a problem with exzema on my face and wanted to find something that leaves my face feeling clean but, not dried out. I love this so much I have it on auto-reorder. NO EXZEMA at all since I`ve been using this!(been using about two years). I also use their Rose Hips Creme in the daytime and the Argan and Rose Oil at night. The price may seem high, but a little goes a long way and lasts a long time. Also like the Shea Butter for the body. It smells nice-not like the usual shea butter products (which I HATE the odor of).

It's hard to believe that this black gooey syrup is a wonderful skin cleanser and brightener!! I put a small amount on a wet facecloth and get a nice rich and foamy result. It leaves your skin clean and glowing but not tight or dry. Just don't use a pure white cloth because it will stain it. I have had compliments from people about how my skin looks after using this product. It is much more pleasant to use than harsh exfoliating creams and gives a very good result. Try it! They have small sample bottles which is how I first tried it myself.
