This is my favorite mattifying primer. It's a great value. I bought my first tube last summer and I'm still using it. I even bought another one in December that I should be breaking out pretty soon. The texture is pretty thick, but I believe you need to sacrifice a thicker texture to achieve an all day matte face. This isn't that hard to blend. I actually like to mix it with the rimmel matte primer or the black radiance primer to make it a little easier to spread out. I prefer the black radiance one with this one. I put a little bit of each on my finger and dot them on my t-zone, rub that in, but I press the combo into my pores. I have pretty oily skin and I don't have time to blot or touch up when I'm working a 9.5+ hour day. And this along with either of those primers keeps my foundation in place all day. I notice the tiniest bit of shine by the end of the day. So from 8am to 6pm I'd say my makeup looks pretty good. It doesn't help with the texture of my skin, but it hasn't broken me out either. I also set my face with a bit of corn starch on top and that has really helped keep me matte. This doesn't have a weird smell either. Overall, I think this is a fantastic primer, a great value for the money and I will always keep this in my stash.

I have oily skin and have tried several primers to stay matte high-end and drugstore. This one is by far work the best for me. Will repurchase.

I tried this because it was so much less expensive than the DHC Velvet Skin Coat that I usually use. While this product worked ok, it was so hard to get it on smoothly. It left little streaks and clumps that were difficult to blend in(had to add water). I bought three because it was such a good deal. Tossed them all. You definately get what you pay for here. I'm going back to the "good stuff."

As a primer, this product is adequate-- meaning that it helps lengthen the lifespan of your foundation.

However, as a product that's meant to maintain a matte finish (and which says on its package, "Stops shine for a matte finish" as well as, "Keep shiny skin under control all day long") it doesn't really cut the mustard.

The texture, too, is very strange and thick. Several times in trying to apply it, the product felt like it crumbled into pieces instead of absorbing into my skin. The times that I managed to spread it and applied a full face over it, I was already starting to shine an hour later. So much for an "all day" matte..

I will be using the remainder of what I have (if I can get it to spread instead of clump), but I think I'll be sticking to the No7 Stay Perfect Primer from here on out.

I wish they had this back when i was in high school. My face gets so shiny that i hate wearing makeup anymore. i have tried everything and nothing would stop the shine. Not until this stuff. Please do not stop making it. i wash my face in the morning with Olay shine, shine go away cleanser, then apply my oil free moisturizer and then this stuff. let it soak in your skin. i don't use foundation anymore. just a little mineral powder over my skin. some lip balm and i'm ready to go. i am 51 years old now and just love this stuff.

I use this product everyday that I wear makeup. After moisterizing (a must before applying this product), I use the No.7 Matte primer before applying makeup. I do have severely oily skin and this product last for 8-12 hours. After 12 hours it doesn't look freshly applied, but considering how shiny my skin would be w/o it, it works wonderfully.
I've tried other primers, but none work as well a this one for truly oily skin. I really wouldn't recomend this for dry or even combination skin.

If you can find it, the perfect moisterizer is the No. 7 Day

It was a negative review that got me to purchase this primer. They said that it reminded them of a glue like consistency and I was like...maybe that means it will stick to my face instead of sliding around! And it did. I also like that it has kept my acne prone skin more clear. The oil control is amazing on contact but after a few hours you will need to use blotting paper, at least I do. I have combination skin.

I was a user of Boots No. 7 Shine Free Primer for Matte Finish and had great results with it, but it became unavailable so thought I'd try this Boots product. Unfortunately, it does not control my shine so I won't be purchasing again.

This matte primer is not matt at all, well, sort of. It rubs off and flakes so easily if your face is not very well moisturized, you have to get your face
well moisturized then you put this primer on. I have used primer before but not so often. This primer doesn't keep the face matt for a long time at all, maybe for about an hour for me, and then I will get oily face. Maybe I have such an oily skin so this won't work for me, but I'm sure that someone else might like it.
