HEAD AND SHOULDERS BRING BACK THE SENSITIVE SCALP FORMULA. I previously used and loved Head and Shoulders SENSITIVE SCALP which also used Aloe Vera. H & S PURELY GENTLE replaced SENSITIVE SCALP and it is a horrible replacement. I listed all the CONS above. There are no PROS to this product. I have a very sensitive scalp and am allergic to many things but I didn't seem to have a problem with the SENSITIVE SCALP Head and Shoulders and the fragrance was minimal which is better for peole with allergies. PG has a disgusting fragrance that gives me a headache. It doesn't seem to rinse out of your hair and leaves your hair so oily that it becomes flattened. Worse yet as if you hadn't even washed your hair at all. I called corporate Head and Shoulders to complain. The Shampoo feels harsh and irritated my scalp. If they are advertising it as being "PURELY GENTLE" then why did they add so much conditioner and fragrance. Yuck! They should have never changed their old product that did work. TO THE PRIOR REVIEWER WITH THE SMELLY SCALP: I also have a similar problem and have to wash my hair every night. You might try putting some tea tree oil on a Q-tip and rub it into your scalp after you have washed and dried your hair. It has helped me with the itchy burny feeling and the smell which is caused by a fungus. People with this condition should not use conditioner on their scalp but only on the ends of the hair.

I have stinky, itchy hair. Ugh, I said it. People say they can't smell it but I surely can. It's awful. I've been cleaning the heck out of my hair: Fancy shampoos, natural soaps, peppermint castile soap, tea tree stuff, black soap, cowashing, Safeguard, witchcraft, etc. I'd lather up, rinse, repeat and still smell the awful smell coming from my hair through the rinse water. I don't have dandruff but I wondered if maybe my issue might be fungal and possibly exacerbated by sensitivity to the shampoos? I have skin sensitivity in general. I bought some of this and used it in desperation. Just like that the smell was gone. Whatever foolishness was going on with my scalp, this stuff took care of it. My only issue with it is it is maybe a bit TOO harsh for my afro kinky hair. The conditioning is minimal at best. I could only use it every once in a while or my hair will become brittle and overdried. I'm going to try the H&S Conditioners as a cowash to see how that goes. I never had flakes so I don't know what it will do about that but it does kill itch and intolerable odor.
