This toothpaste noticeably increases moisture in my mouth while I'm brushing my teeth, producing a mouthful of foamy saliva by the time I have finished my brushing. If I was using any other toothpaste, I would have a dry experience with less to spit after brushing. When combined with either the use of Biotene mouthwash or spray, I am comfortable without water or gum/mints for a couple of hours. Experiences prior to it's use led to regular gum chewing along with water consumption on a near constant basis.

The picture shows "dry mouth" but no where on the box or tube do the words dry mouth appear. Biotene seems determined to drive off all their long time users. They have changed the taste, texture and packaging in recent years but keep promising my dentist that they are returning to their original product. The consistency has changed to a thinner formula that comes out of the bigger tube opening in larger quantities than the recommended pea size. The taste is definitely different and stronger than the original. I'm looking for a different dry mouth toothpaste.

No toothpaste is every going to cure dry mouth, but this one eliminates the ingredients that cause more problems for dry mouths. SLS, the foaming ingredient in other toothpastes, causes the skin inside my mouth to slough off and causes more canker sores. This is one toothpaste I'll never stray from using.

My dentist office introduced me to the Biotene product line about 5 years ago when I mentioned my struggle to avoid dry mouth every day. It is great, in fact, each item in the line is great and contributes to being able to retain mouth moisture. I am not a frequent user of mouthwash, but this one does the job of freshening breath and providing the enzymes needed to avoid bad breath later in the day. The toothpaste and the mouth gel are both very useful and deliver the goods. My favorite item, though, is the Mouth Spray. I keep it in my car and just do a bit of spray and I don't need a "road coke" or gum or a mint with me to keep my mouth moist to my ultimate destination. All in all, the toothpaste is very good and the whole product line is just great!

For 2 weeks now I was suffering from a horribly painful mouth. It felt shredded and bloodied. Water hurt! I finally realized it was my much beloved Biotene!! I had relied on this product for so many years as a Sjogren's sufferer and now it had become a source of pain. I know this sounds pathetic, but I feel lost without the old biotene...I used to get relief. Now the search is on for a new toothpaste.
