Works great, functional. I was a little rough with it so got a tiny crcnk on lid, but everything still works.

Pull on the metal part to retract the brush in. Hold onto the metal part below where the cap goes on and put the cap on. By doing this, the cap will stay on.

I purchased this brush b/c it looked like just what I wanted & needed to get the last bit of lipstick from the tubes. We all know how frustrating it is to pay for makeup and have to throw it away because you can't get to it.It's maddening! I also have other Real Techniques brushes and like them. I wanted to purchase this product as Christmas gifts for my friends. The flaw with this product is the plastic cap. The plastic cracked not long after I got it. I carry this brush in a pocket in my purse with a lipstick tube, so I don't know how it came to crack. Needless-to-say, it's ineffective now since the plastic cap will not stay on the brush because the crack expanded the cap so it is loose. It would also be nice if it were designed a bit more compact and so that the cap is part of the unit, and total removal of cap is not necessary. The brush itself is nice, and I like the pink color. The retractable part works. But all that is outweighed by a poor quality plastic cap that makes it impossible to keep it covered in transit because it will not stay on the brush. A brush over five dollars should work since that is a lot to pay for a small brush.
