Doctor recommended it, so we are doing it. I could not tell if it helps the baby. But it is easier to administrate to the baby. The first time, she spit them all out, but she seems to like the taste after a couple of time. It is usually easier to feed this before meal so that she is hungry for anything :-)

my 2 months old accepted it easily. but I really don't like the color and taste, both are artificial,which should not appear in baby's food.

My daughter has been breast-fed, so her pediatrician recommended that we give her Tri-Vi-Sol so that she gets the vitamins she needs. She likes it, and it works. What more can I say?

I was told to give Vitamin D drops to my breastfed newborn, and this brand was recommended by name. I used it once and am still feeling guilty about actually putting it in my baby's mouth even after I saw the purpleish color and got a whiff of the cough-syrup-like smell. Baby gagged and wailed - who can blame him? - and I immediately went looking for an alternative. Spare your baby! There are Vitamin D drops out there that are ONLY Vitamin D, and don't have the artificial coloring or flavoring.

I first tried Poly-visol because that's all our local store carried and I wanted to make sure my daughter was getting Vitamin D. Polyvisol smells awful, stains clothing, and my daughter just spit it up. Tri-visol smells much better (almost like grape) and she seems to take it without trouble. I often mix it in a bottle and she doesn't even notice it's there. I haven't tried D-visol to compare, however.
Fill the dropper to the 1 mL line to provide the full daily dosage. Use full dosage, regardless of age or weight, unless your child's doctor recommends a different dosage. Dispense with a single squeeze of the dropper blub. It is normal for a small amount to remain in the tip.
Dosing Tips: Drops may be given by dispensing directly into the mouth. Drops may also be mixed with formula, fruit juice, cereal or other foods to increase your child's acceptance.
The product comes with a child-resistant cap. Refrigeration not required. After opening, store away from direct light.
