ABSOLUTELY NO FRAGRANCE FOR A CHANGE by Be Hopeful in Florida on 6/20/09Pros: Effective Protection, NO FRAGRANCE, Rubs In Well, TRUTHFUL -SCENT FREE, UVA/UVB Protection Cons: Clogs pores, Runs Easily, White WHEN YOU SWEAT Best Uses: Beach Bottom Line: recommended FINALLY!!! TRUTH IN ADVERTISING-FRAGRANCE FREE!! I am so sick of the flat out lies in all kinds of products that I wan to use this solely because they really told the truth about it being fragrance free. Doesn't even have that chemically smell that comes from have no fragrance to cover up the chemical smell. It doesn't smell at all.
BUT-when you put it on, it feels light and rubs in nicely, then when you sweat, it turns white and runs down your arms, legs, face etc. which makes you think you have to put more on because after all, it just ran off right? But then, I have "mopped" it with my towel and not applied more and not gotten burned, so maybe it doesn't completely run off. It's just not water proof or water resistant in any way.
I love that it goes on so light, doesn't feel greasy and isn't white. But one drip of sweat and it totally changes-it re-appears white all over and then gets streaky as it runs.
It feels light weight enough to use on your face and since I have no bad reaction to it, I actually do use it on my fact. But as light as it feels, it clogs your pores, causes breakouts/acne all over my chin.
And although it is great for my sensitive skin in the sense that I don't have allergic reactions to the smells and ingredients, and that's BIG - if you put it on your face and you sweat, it burns your eyes like nothing else - really bad.
The GOOD is SO GOOD but the BAD IS BAAAD. Just a few tweaks aand it could be great, but it isn't.
Works Great by Carolina girl in Varnville, SC on 4/8/09Pros: Effective Protection, UVA/UVB Protection Describe Yourself: Budget Buyer Best Uses: Beach, Daily Use, Sports, Swimming Bottom Line: recommended My son has sensitive skin and can not have anything with fragrance, so this does the trick. I put some on him and he is off. I don't have to worry that he is protected.
I would buy this product again by Mom of three in Illinois on 4/4/09Pros: Effective Protection Describe Yourself: Brand Buyer Best Uses: Beach, Daily Use Bottom Line: recommended I am very sensitive to fragrances and this is the most effective fragrance free sunscreen I have found. The down side, as with all non chemical sunscreens, is that you have a slight white glow.
No scent at all! by L the Product Junkie in San Francisco, CA on 12/14/08Pros: Effective Protection, UVA/UVB Protection, Unscented Cons: Opaque Describe Yourself: Budget Buyer Best Uses: Beach, Sports, Swimming Bottom Line: not recommended This would have been a winner had it not irritated my eczema. And also it is too opaque like I was wearing white powder or something!
not for sensitive skin - stung my face by PTO Mommie in PA on 8/15/08Pros: Non-comedogenic, UVA/UVB Protection, Waterproof Cons: Greasy or Heavy Describe Yourself: Quality Oriented Bottom Line: not recommended I did not expect a Neutrogena product to sting my face so much. I have very sensitive skin, and that is why I purchased this.
Would not recommend. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
thank God for this stuff by alli in Ga. on 6/27/08Pros: Effective Protection Describe Yourself: Quality Oriented Best Uses: Beach Bottom Line: recommended I have allergies to fragrances. I have used this product for many years and have never had a reaction to it. I have trouble with hives and rashes, and not many sunblock products have the simple ingredients that this one has. It is effective and doesn't have any excess chemicals to bake into your skin.
BUYER BEWARE! I have very ... by Samantha in Undisclosed on 6/2/08BUYER BEWARE! I have very pale skin, allergies and will get an occasional flare up of eczema on my legs. Recently I was getting little bumpy break outs on my face from greasy sunscreen. A coworker had this product. I put a light coating on my face & within a few hours my face felt irritated. After work I noticed that my face was getting hot, red & blotchy. I rinsed my face very well, because I realized I was having a reaction to this hypoallergenic sunblock. When I woke up the next morning, to my horror my face looked like a giant red tomato. My eyes were nearly swollen shut-so bad I couldn't get my contacts in! Despite taking antihistamines, icing & rinsing with cold water it took about 3 days for my disfigurement to go away. I missed work because I didn't even look like myself I was so swollen. I knew it was the sunscreen which caused this reaction because I did a skin patch test on my leg with the same horrifying results!
I am allergic to ALL ... by Anonymous in Undisclosed on 5/18/08I am allergic to ALL sunscreens, and most fragrances (my dermatologist is still working with me to find one). Meanwhile it is a trick to find one that my husband can wear and not break me out or set off my sinuses. This one has the lowest fragrance I have found, and the first that hasn't set me off with him wearing it. It also didn't break me out from just touching him, like most do. I only gave it four stars because it did let him get a bit darker/more red than the screens that have more than one active ingredient (but he didn't burn).
I have very sensitive ... by Anonymous in Undisclosed on 5/16/08I have very sensitive skin on my face and only recently discovered the difference between physical and chemical sunscreens (after years of suffering from stinging eye areas after swimming!!!). This product NEVER stings my skin no matter what I do, but the reason I am not giving it a 5 is because the white film it leaves on your face is unbecoming and annoying. If they could reformulate it to fix this problem I would be in heaven. I don't know of any other sunscreens like this that only use titanium dioxide, which is what I prefer. I'll keep buying this I guess, but will continue to find one that doesn't give you ghost face!!
