I got these for my husband and he tried them for three days and couldn't stand the side-effects of the itching and flushing. I usually buy the flush free in another brand, but thought I'd try this b/c it's cheaper. Not worth the savings for sure.

I tried to take one tablet per day but the first day I had extreme flushing and itching. I cut the pills in half and still had the reactions for about two hours. Again I halved the pills; same results. This is a product that has to be started gradually in small doses. Unfortunately, I could never get accustomed to it so I discontinued its use.

After having tried various sources, this Niacin really seems to be effective and clearly absorbed by the body. Definitely can get a "flush" from this, but we've also seen some impressive improvements on cholesterol test results (which is why our doctor recommended megadose Niacin - 2 to 3 g per day). Do be sure that you build up slowly to minimize the flush or "burn" feeling, but expect that it will still happen to some degree and learn to think of it as a positive - you know that it is being effective. Taking on a full stomach and with lots of water helps.

Weight reduction and niacin in adequate dosage are the best solutions to improving triglyceride level and raising HDL-Cholesterol.

use it to combat clogged arteries. part of a major medical program of drugs to prevent recurrence of heart attack. these pills are straight forward high dose naicin without buffers. i take 6 a day. they are big and require water to swallow. woulod rather have capsules if available

Although I have a good diet and exercise regularly, my HDL is fairly low. Niacin has helped raise it modestly (from 29 to 35) and is the only non-prescription remedy I'm aware of. It does cause some "hot flashes" which I've decided to treat as amusing rather than annoying or alarming.
