I have had a very different experience with this toothpaste than other reviewers. I picked this up on sale, having never used it before. Within 2 days of first using it, I developed a sore spot in my mouth, much like a canker sore, then more and more. It became so bad at one point that I could barely eat. I have never had any problems at all with my teeth or gums, but every time I used this I was experiencing bleeding gums. It took a minute to dawn on me that maybe I was having an adverse reaction to this toothpaste, I never would have imagined... but when I discontinued using it, all of the problems with ulcers and bleeding in my mouth resolved. I know that I may be the exception to the rule, but for those of you with sensitive mouths... I would recommend avoiding this toothpaste.

This toothpaste doesn't have a bad taste and it cleans well, it makes your mouth feel well-protected after using, my dentist always gives out samples, so I carry it with me in my purse.

This toothpaste tastes OK and leaves your teeth and mouth feeling clean. But I am a bit skeptical about whether it keeps breath fresh for 12 hours or actually whitens teeth.

If you can get past the icky taste and texture of this toothpaste, it is worth using. I have recently been complimented by my new Dentist that I keep my teeth "really clean" and I attribute it to using this product.

Colgate Total definitely saved my teeth. My teeth develop plaque VERY easily, and I would always spend so much time in the dentist's chair getting my teeth scraped. Since I've been using Total, the hygienist does a scrape here and there and I'm done in a couple minutes. For the last 3 years, in every visit the dentist and hygienist complimented me on how great my teeth are. Complete 180 from my younger years when they always harrassed me to do a better job cleaning, and I got a mouthful of cavities. Wish I had this then. I recommend Colgate Total to everybody.

I've tried several toothpaste whiteners. A couple were very expensive and did nothing. This product actually removed much of the stain from my teeth. It didn't act overnight, but with each use I could see improvement. So far it's the best I've come across.

It's a great toothpaste, but I didn't notice any increased whiteness. I'd still buy it. As a matter of fact, I only buy Total toothpaste. I think it's the best for oral health, I just don't see the extra whitening part.

I love this toothpaste! It is definitely my all-time favorite, and because I am a gel kind of girl when it comes to toothpaste, I love it even more! I've used most all the Colgate total products out there. Everything from fresh stripe to gel is great. They all have an ultra powerful mint flavor. I have to say that I honestly don't like the taste at all, but this is by far the most effective toothpaste on the market today. I have used it for more years than I can remember. All Colgate totals have the same basic ingredients and will keep your breath fresh for an entire day.
