This product is pathetic. I'm a 15 year old girl who suffers from the occasional cold sore. I HATE them, they practically ruin my life. They're unsightly and embarrassing. I put a tiny bit of this junk on my cold sore, and it feeds it or something! It grows BIGGER after applying Abreva. I kick myself every time I put it on hoping that maybe I "put it on wrong" or something and that if I just try one more time, maybe it will work. Whatever, I've given up on this stuff. 14 bucks can be spent WAY better than this.

I have not found this product useful in preventing cold sores. I've been getting these sores for years, and know at the first tingle that I have to take care of it. The Abreva did not help. It was moisturizing, and helped with the discomfort, but it didn't prevent or even lessen the cold sore. In fact, one time, I had a new sore on the opposite corner by the next day!

I, like many have suffered with cold sores for many years now. Three to four outbreaks a year. It is very irritating and if you are concerened about your looks at all they are very displeasing to the eyes! With this said I have bought Abreva a total of three different times. Each time forking over the 15.00 for the tiny tube. I would say that one tube will last for about three outbreaks. Since there is no cure for fever blisters we cannot expect Abreva to do much but we can expect it to do what it says. Some times it does and sometimes it doesn't. That is just the cold hard facts. Every one is different so the treatment my react differently. I agree that it does help with the pain and itching but it will not totaly get rid of it all the time. Sores usually last at least a week to a week and a half.

I have yet to use a product that reduces the healing time of cold sores. Abreva, unlike other oil-based products, produces a hard scab that splits and bleeds making the healing time longer! I think cold sores have to run their course. Anywhere between 1-2 weeks depending on the severity.

I had a sore at the corner of my mouth that continued to worsen. Every time I ate it opened and cracked and bled. I bought the Abreva when it was obvious that it wasn't going to heal on it's own. I applied it and immediately it felt better. It softened the scabs and began to heal in the first day. Abreva is wonderful!

My first cold sore appeared at age 48 and continued regularly at the rate of about 3 a year. There was always one, and always in the same spot. I tried one thing after another, and nothing seemed to work. I finally stumbled on Abreva, and the results were great! The blister healed in half the time without the usual pain. More importantly, I've only had two outbreaks since then in a 3 and a half year period. This stuff is a life saver for me!

When used at the first tingle, Abreva will prevent the onset of a fever blister for me. When I can't get to it for whatever reason until the blister has developed, Abreva will make it go awaw within a couple of days and just as importantly, it dramatically relieves the pain/ irritation. This is a staple in my medicine cabinet.

Frankly, I don't think there is anything out there over the counter that helps this virus. I truly believe these things have to run their course. I used this the first day I felt it coming on. Perhaps I waited a few hours too long? I don't know. I probably over-used it too. It says apply five times a day. I think I was applying it every couple of hours. That was almost a week ago. I still have the sores on my lip. They are in the scab stage now, and based on many experiences with these, I have to say that other than the fact that the medication lessened the itch and tingling, it did not help them resolve any quicker than time itself. I would say seven to ten days is the normal time one has to wait to look normal again, and I am certainly waiting that long.

I have never experienced a cold sore/fever blister before; but after a stomach virus, my little girl developed one. The price was nothing compared to the pain my daughter was experiencing. There was immediate relief from pain!!! My daughter no longer complained with the pain within only moments of use. It only takes a very small dab. It will go a long way!!! I have recommended it to everyone. Please try this product, you will never have to look any further for immediate relief and disappearance of that ugly embarassing sore. I promise!!! Thank you, Abreva!

This stuff is great. The TRICK is that you MUST use it at the first sign of a cold sore for it to work beautifully. Don't wait until the cold sore is out. Once you feel that tingle, start using it and you will be very pleased. Remember, don't touch the cold sore with your fingers. I apply Abreva with a q-tip, and when I have a sore I make sure I soak my toothbrush in hydrogen peroxide everytime I use it to be sure I don't keep reinfecting myself with the herpes cold sore virus. It's really important never to touch the cold sore or you can infect other people or other parts of yourself (and of course, please don't kiss anyone when you have a cold sore).
